That, sir, is the $64 question. My amateur opinion is that it would depend on the level of success he is having. I just have a very difficult time convincing myself that Dak could possibly be good enough at any point in his rookie year to keep a healthy Romo on the bench. That is simply unfathomable to me.I think that is what the Cowboys plans are. My question is what if he exceeds expectations of a rookie QB and this team is winning do you keep him in there? Right now I don't have any expectations for Dak and how he will fair but what if he shows he is up to the task?

All that said, no matter what, you put your best QB on the field (whether that's Romo or the rookie). On one hand, I would hate for Tony to be done as a starter...he has given so much to this team and, IMO deserves a better ending. On the other hand, if that were to pass, that would mean that we have one helluva QB on our hands for the next 12 or so years and a good likelihood of a few Super Bowls. Put it to you this way...I expect Dak to play like a rookie. If he plays like a first round rookie, then all the better...we got something for nothing.
Romo has become a liability for this team both contractually and health wise, his injury last year ruined our entire season, and now has gone down again to start this season, I'm not sure Dak is 100% ready and better to lead this team this year but if you go by Dak's history that you mentioned he has done it before, and his pre-season performance is the best I've seen a rookie look ever.
It all depends on how Dak plays these first 4-6 games, if it looks like he belongs, Romo might not see the field at all, the team needs to treat this like if this is our future QB and give him everything to succeed, not making it about how soon they can get Tony back out there.
Indeed. While I may seem skeptical regarding Dak's ability to produce at a high level in his rookie year, I will add that I would much rather see what I've seen of him so far than what I expected to see from him when he was drafted.I agree with you, it would depend on the level of success he is having, how the team is responding to him. Right now Dak is showing a lot of poise and confidence out there more so than I saw from vets playing in pre season games but it is pre season and the reg season is a different animal. I have no grand expectation on how this will go. We will see week 1 vs NY should be a good test for him since NY always seems to play the cowboys tough.
My bad, what would you like to talk about? I didn't realize I was posting this in the dfwjczone.Good lord
I many threads must we have to ask the same questions?
5? 10?
Let the kid play, folks, and then let the coaches decide where to go from there.
To be fair, the team was handcuffed to Weekend because there quite literally was nothing better available. Dak and Sweden from what I've seen this far don't belong in the same conversation. The front office and coaches thought Brandon Weeden was a good idea and thought it was also a good idea to run run short pass punt every offensive series..
If we win a few games with Romo out then maybe we don't have to rush him back as quickly last year..
If we come out this year playing bland football we'll lose every game again.
Yeah, you need to ask permission next time jdayMy bad, what would you like to talk about? I didn't realize I was posting this in the dfwjczone.
No worries at all sir. I get it. It has been discussed ad nauseam. But therein is my issue:. Try as I might to write about anything else, my mind is consumed with what Dak will do starting September 11th.Yeah, you need to ask permission next time jday
Seriously, I thought they sent out a notice saying no more of these threads. Maybe I missed something.
It just seems like with so many alike, we're just entering our same replies over and over for each new thread.
I even did a poll to try to capture some expectations. Wasn't the same thing exactly, but still added to the pile..
No big deal. Have at it. I was just curious.
But I posted this with your opinion in mind...what am I supposed to do now? I can't help that such a volatile question begged for extensive context.tl;dr
yes
Not sure why this didn't work. The front office and coaches thought Brandon Weeden was a good idea and thought it was also a good idea to run run short pass punt every offensive series.
Than you haven't lived sir! It is time you ask the question that we all must ask at some point: What are you doing with your life? This might be the most severe man crush I have ever witnessed.
To be fair, the team was handcuffed to Weekend because there quite literally was nothing better available. Dak and Sweden from what I've seen this far don't belong in the same conversation.
You are right on that front. If the Cowboys play not to lose, I agree, they'll lose.I agree but you can win with Brandon Weeden in this league and when you take the Cowboys OL into consideration you'd think they would be a little better.
Our offensive coaching staff has been garbage and completely Romo dependent and as good as Dak has looked I would not be surprised if they come out with the play not to lose mentality and lose.
