Does this team have the potential to win a SB next year?

Taking into account the fact that we will sign a very good kicker and the draft is still to come, do we have enough/will we have enough to win a title next year?

Depending on how the line holds up maybe.... but it is still a long shot. We also have to take into account that our division is going to be the toughest in all of football

I thought we were a contender last year.

Before injuries we where contenders last year. Before the injuries began to mount on defense we looked really aggressive and dominating. On offense we where good until Flozell was hurt. We did struggle running the ball but I think that was also because of JJ's ankle sprain and Rivera's back.

As long as we can stay healthy in some key areas I think we will be a major contendor for the championship this year.

We are likely going to be a stronger team next year but the key is really going to be the run defense (depending a lot on a better performance from Ferguson) and the blocking from the OL.

Overall, I think this team is too old and will finish with a whimper and not make it to the SB. I do think we will make the playoffs, though.

With T.O., the Cowboys are actually a lot closer to the SuperBowl than I thought they would be.

Nope- a contender for a playoff spot, maybe.

That's just a touch cynical since we almost made the playoffs last year - to almost be a contender for a playoff spot means that you think the team has regressed significantly?

Sure we do. Do you think the Stealers are the best team in the league? They just won a super bowl and they are not even the best team in the own division. That proof enough for you?

I absolutely believe so. In fact, today's move alone I believe significantly raises the bar. And let's be realistic, if there was a better kicker on the team last year, this team could have made a run. Dallas beat one of the teams in the NFC championship game last year and took the other one down to the wire.

As Bill asked the team in 2003, who in the NFC scares you?

I agree with what a lot of people here are saying. We're not a great team by any means, but we are a good team and that's all it takes these days. The talent gap between Seattle and Dallas last year, one a superbowl team and the other missed the playoffs, was miniscule.

I do wish we had a better offensive line like everybody else here does. The thing you have to take into account though is that TO helps there. He can run a very good hot route and make teams think twice about blitzing. Remember in that Eagles/Broncos game last year where McNabb immediately threw it to him, and TO made Bailey miss and ran for the TD?

let's just say that field goal kicking becomes less of an issue with TO around.

Yep, esp with Bledsoe on his back.

T.O. won't stop Williams from blitzing. Is Larry Allen really leaving? Why wouldn't he restructure to stay with the star?

Cuz he thinks he's worth more than he is.

Would you restructure a $7.5 mil salary?

I am shocked to hear anything bad about Allen. He is one of your all-timers.

The Commanders have never seen a contract that couldn't be restructured!

He might not have a choice. He will not get cut until April and by then all the FA dollars will be spent. For the last 3 years he has been robbing the Cowboys, so Dallas should try and get him to restructure.

Allen and his agent are not stupid. They know the Cowboys are coming with a restructure or you will get cut offer. We will then find out how much he really wants to play for the Cowboys.
