They were above .500 exactly twice before Dak went down. Once at 1-0 and again at 3-2. They were down to the Falcons when Dak went off late in the 3rd qtr. By any reasonable standards this team was not a winner last season. It has always been said that the defending champs are the champs until they are knocked out of contention. The same applies to the other end of the spectrum. As of now the Cowboys are a non-playoff team trying to get better. Nothing more, nothing less.

The truth can hurt, but that is the truth.

I for one, was not going to get too excited about the upcoming season bc I've been let down so often as we all have. That being said... does this off season seem different... like there is an actual plan? Was Shotty the right pick for HC? Will Klayton Adams really have us moving the ball on the ground... will we set up every play to look the same so the run and the pass keep the defenses honest. Did we really draft a 1-2 punch at RB? Will George P and CD rip up defenses. Have we done enough on the D side of the ball to at least put us in the top half of league and will our O be able to up points as we hope they will?

Different from last year when they didn't even try? Yes. Different from the last many years when they went cheap/scared in FA? No.

This is why I knew Mike wouldn't be back. Jerry couldn't sell the same old thing again (although actually he could to many). But get a new coach and shuffle in some new players -- even if neither coach nor players are any better than what was here before -- then blame everything last year on Dak's injury, and you can get fans buying again.

lol. My folks would take my siblings and me to a local diner growing up. Their standard glass of water ALWAYS had a lemon slice in the glass. Not ON the lip of the glass. In the water.
