Does Tony Romo belong in the HOF over Eli Manning?

Romo definitely not. And I dont think Eli is 1st ballot.

But his career stats and team achievements definitely separate him from Romo and most QB’s this era of similar talent level.

I think it’s more than just regular season play. Eli has a myriad of accolades that the HOF covets:

1. he is top 10 in both yards and TDs. Every player higher than 13th is projected to be a HoFer. Would be peculiar to exclude one that high up.

2. he started 222 consecutive games, the third highest QB streak ever. This is a monster stat that the NFL has historically flaunted.

3. Eli Manning won 8 playoff games in 9 appearances over a course of 2007-2011. The only other players who have ever accomplished this were in the GOAT conversation at the time of their retirement.

They’re not traditional stats like passer rating or success against winning teams, but I think Eli has a strong case to be a hall of Famer both as the NFL’s modern day iron man as well as a playoff legend

Yea, the top 10 all time in passing yards is a coveted stat for HOF.

Not even close. Unless there's a regular season HOF.

Neither guy was a HOF talent, but Eli will make it because of the success.

Both guys are just Hall of Good type of players.

The HOF should be even more exclusive than it is already as far as I'm concerned.

Eli will make it because of his name. And the fact he played for the Giants, who really haven't had many players with HOF talent to choose from.

And, of course, his two lucky SBs.

Dude was the proverbial bus driver, and really not all that great given the era he played in.

Somehow, though, he managed to win 2 SBs, which is surprising to me, given what a doofus the guy is.

Romo should be in based off where he started as an UDFA, from a small school. And for all the passing records he broke and set at Dallas, where the franchise has had several all pro, HOF QBs.

Romo isn’t a HOF player

Eli definitely isn’t a HOF player. But he has HOF accomplishments.
Well said . And that’s really what it comes down to. Not all of the greatest players in each era had the most talent . They just over achieved and or out performed their competition on the bigger stages and consistently throughout .

He was also the MVP of both Super Bowls.

That helps a lot too.

Eli was better in the post-season than many give him credit for. Everyone likes to bring up the helmet catch, but there was a ton more to that game.
For the contrarians: I can't stand the drooling moron.

The “ doofus” label is media fabricated. What does that really mean?

And besides two SB wins he was top 10 all time in passing yards. His name falls into the “ impact “ category. He and his brother made a huge impact to the NFL. The first name of the NFL. Royalty !!

Romo? Definitely not. His inability to elevate his team in the playoffs disqualifies him.

Manning? No way should he, but he will get in. Any objective fan who watched Manning on a weekly basis would never put Manning in the HoF. But since he played in NY, with the silly NY Sports writers, Manning will get in based on his 2 rings. Eli Manning was actually a pretty mediocre QB for years but he made plays in big games. To me Eli Manning will always be the QB who was looking at the pass rush and falling down before he got hit.

In a way, Manning and Romo were opposites. Romo was a really good QB all season who seemed to have bad luck in the playoffs. Manning was an ugly QB most of the time who benefited from some memorable plays in the post season.
