31
Menelik Watson
OT Florida State
Jr.6-5310

Acquired from 49ers. Now picking near the bottom of the round, the Cowboys are still in position to upgrade their offensive line with Watson, a right tackle in college who is thought to possess left tackle skill level in the NFL. Other logical options for Dallas based on need would be Florida International safety Jonathan Cyprien or Ohio State defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins (Notice there are a ton of Jonathan variations in this year's draft? Cooper, Cyprien, Hankins, Banks, etc...)

Blech.

I'd actually welcome a tradeback scenario under the right circumstances. A chance to snag a pick and Watson in the first would not be one of them.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind it with Datone Jones or Sylvester Williams... but Please, not with Watson.

I prefer everybody mentioned including Kawan Short. If they got an extra 3 and 4, I'd love that part of it.

If Cooper is off the board, then a trade back would be good.

I'm impressed every time I watch game footage of Watson. I believe that he could also play OG if Parnell proves to be good at RT.

I like those guys there, too. Or even a S at that point if you really like a guy after Vaccaro goes.

I'm high on Watson, so I'd love to land him in a trade back. But I'd only trade back that far if a second rounder was involved.

Was thinking the same thing.

We would also have to get their 34 th and 74th picks to make it work for the Team. That would put SF over in the value points by about 50 but that's what they have to pay in order for us to trade back.

I think you reading the chart wrong. Pick 18 is worth 900 points, whereas 31 + 34 is worth 1160 points. 18 for 31 and 61 is nearly perfect value.

Picks 1-17 are about as bad as the draft could go for Dallas in that scenario.

I can deal with a trade back but not for a project. Give me Cyprien, Reid, Hopkins, Short, or DaMontre Moore before Menelik Watson.

Not sure why Banks said Dallas would pick up an extra 3rd and 4th, when the obvious trade is 18 for 31 and 61. So a mid 1st for a late 1st and late 2nd.
Near perfect swap, if both teams wanted it.

But trading all the way down to 31 is really risky, imo.
The trade has to happen before our picks at 18, so nearly ahlf the 1st round still has to unford before pick 31. A lot can happen between picks 17 and 31.

If our top choices are gone, I think Minnesota or Cincy are trade back options.
Dropping to 31 is dicey.

Has to be a player there that they are willing to trade up for.

I like Watson and would be all for this if its for 31 and 61 as everyone else is saying.
For as much as a project as Watson is he only let up 1 sack all year at Florida State. He's got a rare blend of size, strength, and natural athletic ability. If he went back to Florida State for 1 more year I don't think he would have had any trouble being a top 20 pick.

I fully support trading back this year and adding more picks and young players; the problem is that almost everyone wants to trade back this year due to the draft's depth. Finding someone who wants #18 badly enough and who has the ammo to do it will be the problem.

Always...definitely a given.

Some one would have to fall that has value and for whatever reason Dallas does not want them at 18.
Vaccaro, Tavon, etc.
IF Dallas didn't want them at 18.
