Donnie Edwards

He'd be intriguing as a backup/mentor to our young guys. And it'd work for him since we play on field turf or w/e and he's allergic to grass.

Not a bad idea. But will he go for it?

I just believe we would have to make a finicial committment to him, but I don't think Jerry Jones would want to keep him as a back-up if he already got Feeney or Thomas. Plus I believe Carpenter could be that man but I would like to put him in the middle with Akin Adoyele.

Donnie has 3 good years in him so if he will take a reasonable 3 yr deal, go for it:cool:

Doesnt play like it. Hes in great shape and if you watch a Charger game he is easily their best pure linebacker.

This has teeth. I can remember Edwards mentioning that if Phillips left, he would leave also.

It's a pretty easy prediction to think that he will end up hear.
Sorry to pick on you about this...

But I will never understand how there are so many freakin' morons that make typos like this. Seriously, how do you dopes get through elementary school?

Typing smack is so lame go take your spell checker and try and figure out what he meant anyway.

It's not smack. And it's not hard to figure out what he meant. But seriously, to be that damn dumb just means that anything else you type is completely worthless. Just because you are as big a moron as he is doesn't mean that you need to get your panties in a wad.

Never heard nothing about this, plus how do averaging 140 tackles make u a nice back-up.

By the way since u can remember Edwards mentioning that if Phillips left he would to, when did he say that, because u remember, remember

Your saying im getting my panties in a wad? Sure thing spelling cop.

You do understand that people think differently. Almost all people do not think of the words that are being typed as the visual representation but rather as the sound that is heard. That is how language is learned as a child. So when you are typing it out you are constantly mentally converting it between the two forms as you read and type. Additionally there is a degree of muscle memory when it comes to typing that plays into it.

When im in a hurry or im tired or typing a lot i do it myself. If you want to call me stupid you can go ahead but if im stupid then what does that make you?

Every off season what is the number one complaint? Overpaying for guys over 30. He falls right into that big time.

I agree...

the big name-itis has returned...everybody thinks that the coaches we have cant make good players out of the people we have...and history shows that isnt true with Wade Phillips and defense...the guy makes a HUGE difference

Valid points.

However, it is likely Phillips will want to bring in some of his guys. Payton did it in NO. Guys to get his message across in the locker room and to help with whatever defensive transition the team might need.

Edwards also brings something this defense desperately needs. Coverage ability to the ILB position and leadership.

I'm licking my chops over this. Man oh man. with Edwards in the middle we would no longer have to suffer from watching Bradie James trail a TE straight up the field with a 10 yard separation between them. That skinny post middle would be on lockdown! :D

no need for Edwards...we have alot of LB's who can play, and we finally have a coach who can get the most ut of them

Ware isnt the only LB who is gonna benefit from having Phillips here

David

Isn't it funny how all the experts here know more about 3-4 ILBs than Wade Philips?

Here's an idea...let's let the defensive guru we hired as a HC decide whether James, Carpenter, Edwards, or anybody else fits best at LB and then get the most out of them. Hell three years ago all we heard (from these same people) was that we needed to replace the "smurf" Dat with Bradie James, and now they want him run out of town. Ridiculous.

If hes asking for entirely to much then dont sign him.

But just because he is 33 doesnt mean he isnt worth it. If he enjoys play football it wouldnt surprise me if this guy plays into his late 30s.

Hes in very good shape and is a very good player.

Like I said earlier you cant tell the different between him and a 28 year old and the guy has only missed 2 games in his entire career.

Yeah, lets dump a guy that we already have bid $$ tied up in... a guy that performed well in 2005 and part of 2006.

And this is where it really shows that we're smart-- we'll invest in a 33 year-old who expects to earn $5 mill a season-- BRILLIANT!

Plus let's not forget that maybe, just maybe our new coach, who is suppose to be some sort of 3-4 guru, can maybe help turn the younger guy (who we've already invested a ton of money into) into something special.

Do all you doofusses get rid of your wife/girl-friend whenever she burns a meal?

Well maybe you shouldn't answer that knowing the way some of you post **** on this forum... :D

Yep.

Nice to see someone post with some deeper into the situation.

If I remember correctly we dropped 25 mill a year for a receiver for 3 years.

We're talking about getting a better player who has played in this defense and will be an extreme help on the field for the players around him.
