Ahh Weeden, poor Weeden. He had the dream gig here in Dallas until Romo went down. He did and said all the right things, looked good in practice, held a good clipboard. All he had to do was show up for work everyday, pretend to be a QB, and collect fat paychecks. Then Romo had to get hurt and ruin everything, lol! I've never seen a guy look more terrified to be on a football field, and it wasn't the defenders he was scared of. The look he had on his face when he came in said "Oh crap, everyone is gonna know I can't play now, that I'm a fraud! I'm gonna lose my job! I'm gonna lose my fat paychecks!" No, I don't think we'll be seeing Weeden wearing the star again, and that's fine with most Cowboys fans.

He's recently fallen to #3 on HOU QB depth chart and may get cut. He knows our system and can step right in, if necessary. And he's played in actual NFL regular season games. I know he played terrible last year, and I don't particularly want him, but there are few options . Waiver or trade seems like only options because no free agent QB will want to come here just for 6-8 weeks and then get cut when Romo returns. Sanchez will get cut, but his salary is too high ($4.5M) to claim off waivers. Aaron Murray is a guy we might like if he's cut, but he's never played in a regular season NFL game. Lastly, Geno Smith. Ugh. Don't be surprised if Weeden gets picked up on a waiver claim...

I'll take @Floaty over Weeden.

Sanchez not subject to waivers.

Almost everyone you have mentioned is a vested veteran. So they don't go through waivers. So their existing salary is not an issue, it will be negotiating a new contract. Sanchez and Weeden are. Geno Smith would be a possible waiver claim, but I honestly doubt it. Aaron Murray would be someone available on the waiver wire and would be very cheap. Bryce Petty might be another one that could be cut and wpould be cheap. All three of them WAY more likely than Sanchez or Weeden.

Weeden will remind the players of the losing culture/rhythm they had last season.

Uh...he can refuse to report. Isn't he a free agent and has to accept a deal also? If a team that claims him has his rights for a period of time, he can just wait it out. Or maybe not unless it's a form of slavery.
Sanchez is vested. Weeden should be also.

I don't think Weeden will shake loose, but he might. He defended himself in the press agains some of Jerry's comments, but I doubt that bought him any bad blood in the locker room. Jerry really should not have made the comments, anyway.

He was reportedly pretty close with Tony, too, so I could see him welcomed back pretty readily if we wanted a guy with a bit of experience. Unlikely, but not beyond the realm of the possible.
