Don't look now but Ellis has 8.5 sacks already.

How ironic that the year he was possibly going to retire, he may finally get double digit sacks for the first time.

It is not ironic to me.

He was having a great season last year.

He is in an attacking defense and has Ware on the other side.

All those people who bashed him always pointed out that he's played all these years and never got double-digit sacks... And now he's going to do that playing less than a full season at age 32. Pretty cool.

Good coaching means a lot. :)

I must apologize to Ellis. I thought he was a cry baby that only wanted to get paid and would eventually quit on the team. Now, he appears to be a man on a mission and even appears to be quicker than he was pre-injury. Great job Ellis!

I'm one of those people. He has had fast starts before and disappeared.

I don't think he will this time though. Part of it is him, part of it is the scheme.

My money is on him surpassing Ware. Who woulda thought? Not that Ware's presence doesn't benefit him greatly in the sack department.

im another one of those people and I agree that he probably won't fade.

I think he will be less worn down because of the time that he missed. The biggest thing is that Ware is the guy drawing the double teams, not him. You can't double both of them and still have anybody to throw to.

But there are still 5 games left, so the jury is still out. GB and Favre will be a big test for him...and the whole defense for that matter.

he's having an awesome year...if we do end up in Arizona for the Super Bowl, he will be a big reason why...we have two guys who are unblockable with one OL now, and Ellis seems to be getting better every week...his first step yesterday was as good as I've seen from him in a couple of years or so

where all ALL the freaking dolts that wanted us to trade him for a 7th rd pick or FLAT OUT REALEASE him?? I swear we have some grade A dumbarses in here

I think he is the individual success story of the year for the Cowboys at this time. I didn't even think the guy would ever play again. He was still noticeably limping just a short 3 months ago. Achilles injuries have (or has, as Emmitt would say) ended many a career at Greg's age.

He is a true warrior and a true Dallas Cowboy, always underrated yet always solid.

Greg Ellis has moved up a notch on the old Sarge-o-meter.

Good job Greg!

I liked the way he was all over TNew after that pic 6. Just watching him chat with and hug TNew showed me this team is reallt a much closer team than most realize.

Two reasons: one of course is he never had anyone close to Ware to take the pressure off; the other is this: we are clearly having one of those special years. When was the last time we this strong this late in the year and going for homefield advantage and a favorite to make the SB? the answer is NEVER since Ellis has been here. I think Ellis's late season slumps were due to being worn down and watching the rest of the team either fade or worse never even being there in the first place. The positive energy and enthusiasm of a team having a great year cannot be measured- but you can tell the effects on old dogs like Ellis.
One other thing that might be a factor: he is not worn down as much as he usually is by playing all 11 games up till now plus pre season- his legs have GOT to be fresher and he does not have all the dings and bruises he normally would have by now.

Similar to how Ogunleye benefitted from Jason Taylor

I fully agree. I didn't think he would be able to come back and if he did I didn't expect him to be as good as he was before.

I was wrong.

Still didn't much care for the crybaby act before, though, but props go where they belong. Good job, Greg..

We've discovered the secret - let him take the first month off every season - that way we don't have to deal with his December disappearance.

Coming back from a big injury, he's playing the best I've seen him play ever. He looks faster and stronger. I'd hate to see him go. He compliments Ware so well.
