Don't see how Jack fits now

now that we resigned McClain and Wilber. Jack does not play slb. And McClain starts at least 2 downs.

I would agree if McClain had signed a long term deal, but with a one year deal, I think Jack is still very much in play. Not to mention that Lee is very injury prone at the all important will spot. I don't think the Wilber signing has any impact on Jack. I am not saying that we will draft Jack, but if we end up signing Weddle, A CB, and Long next week I would expect Jack or a QB to be the most likely pick.

Signing McClain to a 1 year deal does nothing to deter you from selecting Jack if he's BPA.

The draft is not about filling needs for next season, it's about selecting the best talent to help you long term.

And Wilber... heh.

You mean the eight full games he plays?

It's a good point. But we also drafted Hitchens and Damian Williams the past two years. jack may be a great player, but I just don't see the value for us at 4 when we could get a potential difference making CB, a potential franchise QB, or DE.

I've never thought they were drafting Jack, just like I thought it was a mistake to count on McClain.

As others have said, us signing McClain to a one year contract would not prevent us from drafting Jack.

And Wilber? Lol. He's highly replaceable.

I think Jack becomes the obvious choice after FA. I think we've spent too many resources on Dline; S would be an option if one of Wilcox or Church dropped. No CB warrants the 4th pick. I don't think we can get a backup QB with #4 and RB, maybe in a trade down. I always looked at Jack's tape with pessimistic eyes, what with the injury and that he's kind of a do-it-all. Looked again the other day; dude can change this D around if he's healthy.

You can never have enough good lb's, especially not with our attendance history.. I hope we trade down if QB is gone and take Zeke..

No one drafts a 4-3 SAM with the 4th overall.

Just because he starts there doesn't mean that he would be limited to that.

I'm not a fan of jack really at 4. Between his knee and not really being settled at one position he seems a risk.

Jack shouldn't be off limits because of Mcclain, but if they are going for "immediate impact" like Jerry keeps hinting, he won't be considered at 4.

Yea, in the last 2 years, we've used 2 second round picks and a 3rd, invested in a risk superstar and our star FA signing (if you wanna call it that) this year was DL. What resources have we put in LB since we were a pick away from Shazier 2 years ago? And do any of those moves scream long term? And CB, if you consider Hargreaves as #4 option, I can't argue. I do like the player.
