Same is true for every team losing a superstar or two. The 49ers lost three straight games in October without Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams in the lineup.

There isn't enough cap space for every team to be stacked at every position. When you have a superstar than you pay that guy and build around him. If you want a team with just average talent all around for balance, you have the Bears, Falcons, or Broncos roster.
Niners received core is way better if you subtract CD and Deebo.

Yeah. Let's build around a guy that goes AWOL for most of the season and always In the playoffs.
Can’t believe we have fans here who hate a finalist on the Cowboys for DPOY. Oh wait it’s Shabazz. He hates them all.

Again. I love Micah. My fear is we sign him to a big long term contract and he gets injured. Playing DE undersized and constantly being doubled and tripled team is going to shorten his career. Micah is not same player playing when he is hurt or slowed down.

We can already see each year how he fades after week 12, because he is worn down.

If you can get a multiple first round picks and save the cap space, I think we would be crazy to not a least look into it.

I would say the same for any player that is looking to be the highest paid player in their position.

Parsons playing out of position is 100% on Quinn. Apparently he doesn’t have the nads to tell Parson that’s not in the best interest of the team. Deion wanted to return every punt and kickoff but Johnson said hell no. This is why coaching is so important. You can be doomed before the season starts like the Cowboys were this year.

All that points to our stupidity in playing Parsons at DE all game.
*Obviously* he should be splitting time as a DE/LB. He's often simply a *liability* in run defense at DE, and as you point out, that just makes him *worse* at DE on the downs he *should* be playing DE.

Parsons is our most valuable player, and he's still got a lot of upside if we use him more effectively. He's the guy to build the franchise around. Certainly the defense.
Only way to help parsons is to get another legit 10 sacks DE opposite of him. Or DT that has 10+ sacks. Otherwise the pattern will continue.

Do we know it's Parsons who wants Parsons at DE?
Seems a very Jerry kind of move.

We can not even get Parsons out of game with a big lead. How many 20+ wins did we have last year? Maybe he would have still been fresh the last 6 games of the year and the playoffs.

Or, we could help Parsons like teams have *always* helped smaller edge rushers since forever by getting them off the LOS for most run downs.

That's Dan Quinn's idiocy and it's too late to fix it. Parsons could be an every down player at linebacker. He could still rush the passer on 3rd down.

But Micah doesn't want to play LB because he wants to get paid like a DE. So we get a 240 pound edge rusher that is washed by the ninth or tenth game of the year. Because he's not physically built to play there.
It's really key whether Micah is opposed to playing LB.

If so, I'd be inclined to trade Micah while he still looks great. He already wears down as the season progresses. Soon enough that wear and tear will stop washing off in the offseason and he won't be as good and we'll have to further reduce his snap count. Let someone else pay DPOY money to a declining pass rush specialist.

Agreed! But it's NOT too late to fix it. Parsons just might be killer at LB. In the 1st place, opponents have got it figured out how to hold him on every play and get away with it when he plays that DE. With his talent he'd be a great LB, and team him with Overshown next year and we'd have a killer LB duo.

Build around Parsons, it’s simple. Think he talks too much? Cry me a river!! Extend this man and make him a Cowboy for life.
why? he was a no show in the playoffs. two years in a row, in the most important games of the year he was a no show. last year he has 1 tackle. this year he had 1 tackle. 4 assisted tackles total in two years and two playoffs.

I don't think there has *ever* been an elite edge rusher with the physical gifts player who could both edge rush and cover better than Parsons.
Parsons is a unique freak among elite edge rushers *ever* setting the bar for the physical gifts he *could* bring to bear as an off the ball LB. Strength. Speed. Agility.

And much like Woody, that elite role flex is a monster advantage for the defense as a whole even when it doesn't show up in his individual stats.

It's a football sin to take such a player and turn him into a *liability* against the run while he tries and fails to set the edge against the run.
