Madden is doing our game right? I would love to here Theisman's response after we torch them.

And your boy Bledsoe moved the ball against the second worst pass defense in the league last year. Suddenly that means you're gonna plunk 35 on us.

And I don't hear anyone on this board lamenting the fact that Julius Jones was held to under 4 yards a carry. Somehow he's the future centerpeice of your high-powered offense. Wow ... Congrats. :)

San Diego had the league's third best run-defense last year. JJ still put up 93 yards on them.

As one columnist said today, "He got shut down" and still put up 93 yards?

I'll take that.

I don't care how superior one team is supposedly over the other in this rivalry. All I have to remember is Nov 5, 1989. Remembering that date keeps my feet planted on solid ground.

Your defense certainly looked better last week than it did last year.

Then again, so did our OL. Our pass protection was much better, and our run game was MUCH better. That overrated system back Clinton Portis averaged 5.8 yards a carry, far higher than he averaged in any game last season. Jansen and Rabach are making a big difference so far.

I watched your game. You OL did look OK. I have always liked Jansen....shame he was injured last year (honestly).

And although Portis averaged 5.8 yards a carry against the Bears, he did have the aid of a 40 some-odd yard run.....when the Bears obviously were gassed.

Until that run, they had Portis bottled up. But I'll be fair, Portis made a big play when he had to. I honestly can't stand it when people say to take away the big run......but in this case, Portis WAS controlled most of the game.

Our defense picked up exactly where it left off, holding the Bears to 2.3 yards per carry. Kyle Orton, who the announcers fawned over all day for keeping his poise and composure and having an ok day amassed a stellar 52.8 passer rating. Bledsoe is obviously a far bigger threat than Orton, but our pass defense is equally far better than San Diego's.

Now, this is the one area of your team that truly frightens me. Your defense isn't all that talented....especially on the DL....but they scheme well, and play hard together. I have a feeling that you just might rattle Bledsoe into stupid mistakes that will result in easy points for you all.

The big question mark (no pun intended) is Brunell. Is he the ghost of his former self we saw last year, or is he the re-energized savvy vet we saw in the pre-season? I think the answer to that question will determine the Commanders' chances on Monday night.

I've always liked Brunell. I think he's going to be a lot like VT was for us last year. At times he'll put together big time games....other times, he'll look like a 37 year old vet. You're right.....which Brunell will show up?

I don't think this will be a cake-walk for us. I think it'll be a dog-fight the entire way. I think you all have a real chance against us this year. I would not be at all surprised to see you come in and shock us in front of the triplets.......It'll be a homecoming atmosphere......and we're primed for a letdown.

This is so silly.

JJ did exactly what he needed to do - made San Diego keep 8 men in the box...

All. Damn. Day.

THe result?

7 of 11 3rd down conversions, most of them to Crayton open in the middle because of the vacated space. Bledsoe throws 3 TDs. We are 4 for 4 in the red zone.

I see Mr. Portis managed 5.8 YPC. That's great. What did all that running back production net you? 3 FGs? 70 yards passing in 3 quarters once Brunnell came in? 6-16 on 3rd down?

Gee, that's swell.

I'm pretty happy with our "high-powered" offense's performance.

Are you?

That arguement was a lot more convincing after the Bucs game last year, when Portis had his 64 yard TD and ran for 148 yards on 29 carries. This year, Portis still average 4.1 yards per carry WITHOUT the big run. They didn't have him bottled up at all.

It's not llike Portis didn't have big runs last year as well. But last year he never brok 100 yards without rushing the ball at least 29 times. On Sunday he rushed it 21 times.

I don't think this will be a cake-walk for us. I think it'll be a dog-fight the entire way. I think you all have a real chance against us this year. The Letdown is what I'm hoping for. You guys just won a huge game, an emotional game ... a last second win over a tough team on the road. You are expecting an easy win this week. It could be a big trap game for you all. Honestly, I'd be more worried if you had lost a close one to the Chargers, because you'd be looking to take out your revenge on someone ... namely us. :)

But now there's that chance for a letdown. And at this point I'll take a win any way I can get one. Our team isn't great, and you all have to favored this week, but we don't get blown out. We stick around and stick around and punch teams in the mouth defensively. If the Cowboys aren't ready for four quarters we might just sneak out with it.

Because a crossing route is harder to cover than vertical routes, and Coles doesn't have 1/3 of the field taken away from him because he's not physical enough to make a catch in traffic.

It ultimately means more production, which is the entire point. Santana can be taken out of a game by a physical corner, Coles can't, at least not as easily.

And Moss has never had in any season "better stats in every single category" then Coles. Even last year when Coles was hurt and played half his season with Mark "Pea Shooter" Brunnell in Gibb's 3 yard and a cloud of dust *passing* offense, he still put up more catches and yards.

Coles is physically a better player and has a better track record. I think it makes up for the toe, and hurt they are about equal players. If as you say the toe heals, then its not even a question.

But I haven't seen one shred of evidence to support your statement that Moss > Coles.

*shrug* I guess we'll see.
Well yeah, I'm sure we will see. We'll see what we've been seeing the last 4 weeks.

I haven't seen a shred of evidence that discounts my statement.
I know the QB situation with the Jets is enough to make grown men cry, but even if they had a competent QB, there's just no way Coles was going to have a better year than Moss.

All that crap about Coles being a physically better player, or them being equal with Coles hurt, all that is just nonsense.
