Last night these 2 guys cost us big.

Holding penalties by Escobar..

QB sacks running around Free..

constantly killed drives and took big plays off the board.

They finally replaced Escobar with a OL guy for blocking and used other receivers in passing downs.

But nobody replaced Free and the same old problems persisted.

When the announcer finally said Free was the weaklink in the Cowboys OL and if you wanted a sack you lined up your best rusher and would get it..

I thought I would spit up my beer.

Free has to be replaced.

Before the playoffs start.

He is a liability that is being exploited badly and DAK is seriously in danger with Free in the game.

I never see Free downfield blocking..he does not do what the other OL do..

he can't pull and block..

he can't setup and pass block without a penalty

and if all he does is run block..

time to go.

Waiting until next season to replace him could be a huge mistake.

If all Escobar does is hold..time to go. He's replaceable.

Is Collins and Greene returning going to be enough to move Free out?

dont agree about Free, he's had a solid season, Escobar on the other hand is brutal.

I actually thought the penalty against him on the big Zeke run was weak. That was a huge momentum changer and more an officiating issue than problem with Free. He did not look good on the caused fumble and recovery, however, and that's putting it mildly.

You never know what Free is going to show up. He can be dominating at times. And other times he's downright abysmal.

To me, this is a big part of why we miss somebody like Swaim...he allows us to help Free out when Free isn't on his game and still allow Witten to run routes.

This.

Despite the haters who can never see any of the good with Free, Doug actually had a lot of good plays last night and he is generally quite good in the run game. Cowboys have a lot of success this season running behind him and Martin.

And the OP is wrong: Free is a good downfield blocker.

Yes he did give up two sacks and the one where Dak got stripped...was ugly. He got beat right off the snap.

Again...defenses are going to load up to attack that side as we have an all-pro at left tackle. Free sure isn't great, but he's absolutely not terrible.

Free doesn't need to be replaced this year and won't be.

When there are threads about this current Oline vs the 90s Oline, how can you even consider this one better.

Jay novacek wasn't a great blocker and the 90s line went up against hall of fame DEs like Reggie White, Bruce smith ect

And the 90s Oline was cheaper

Free has had several seasons when he rated out as above average on the scouts sites. He's certainly got his flaws but he ain't bad. Just a favorite whipping boy around here.

I'd be curious to see how thoughtful analysts rate him this season. Being the weakest link on this bunch is hardly a criticism.

And those 90's lines had games where the Eagles sacked Troy quite a bit! In '91 the Eagles sacked Troy 10 times!

If I remember correctly Jimmy Johnson himself said this was a better line.
