Doug Free is a liability.. I counted about 5-6 plays if not more that Matt Cassell was getting hit on while trying to throw the ball, one of which was that controversial fumble that got overturned in the last minutes of the game.

Free was getting abused all day, you know what, xwalker was right, we should have kept Parnell. He definitely had more upside and strength..

I don't know how you can blame the QB when a great deal of his pass attempts were disrupted while getting drilled by Free's assignment..

Free has been the weak link in this O-line for a while but yesterday he got totally exposed, that dude is complete garbage..

There was even one play where if the whistle had not been blown ole Dougie would have gotten Cassell killed, yeah that's right even the refs saved our bacon once...

Leary played tackle in college. He's sitting around inactive every week now. Free has definitely struggled this year, and I think it's the end of the road for him.

Drafting a right tackle in one of the first two rounds is necessary if a talented one is available.

So you wanted to overpay Parnell?

Free has struggled at times but you can't expect to have 22 pro bowl players on the field at all times.

This thread is a bit of an overreaction.

I just can't get behind the idea that we over pay Parnell when we wouldn't even pay Murray.

Over reaction? Watch some game tape...Doug Free is hot garbage right now. I'd rather roll w/ Charles Brown....Doug Free is that bad.

Free completely missed the block on the driver after the blocked FG to stop the run on third down. I'm not sure it would have made it anyway, but missing that block guaranteed it wouldn't. It was a terrible job.

Yes saying we should have matched Parnells deal and kept him is a huge overreaction.

So please tell me you would feel good about paying Parnell 5 years and 35million with 13m guaranteed when he is already 29 years old and has 6 career starts that were not very impressive starts.

Overreaction at its finest.

After 5 straight losses people feel they need to find a new target of their anger.
The board has already blamed the T Will, Beasley, RAndle, McFadden, Weeden, Cassel, Pass Rush, Lawrence, Carr, Crawford, Leary, Clutts, Lee, Church, Mo, special teams...

So now it's Free's turn I guess.

According to Cowboyszone over reactions we would have turned over 80% of our roster in the last 5 weeks.

If I was running the show...I wouldn't have paid Parnell either. I thought we did the right thing by drafting a T in the 3rd round. I wanted Daryl Williams out of Oklahoma. I think he steps in day one....and we roll.

No we should have extended him before his agent tested the market. We knew he was coming up, sometimes you extend guys early once you know they can play.

Like we did for Crawford?
Even early extensions are not really at discounts.
If it were that easy to avoid overpaying then we would have extended Dez and Murray early on the cheap also.
These agents know the players open market value and wouldn't be in business long convincing their clients to take discounts.
