I kept saying this, but Free is the weakest link on the OL.

What is the solution at this point?

Put a TE to help out.

BTW, Romo, Dunbar and Tyron struggled as well. Romo has to get the ball out quicker, even if it means an incomplete pass. I assume that defenses will just blitz whenever Dunbar is in the backfield. And Tyron has not looked good in pass protection the last 2 games.

Haven't rewatched. Don't watch very well while working but I saw him get beat a couple of times. Smith looked bad a few times. We don't seem to start well and that's on all the players and Jason. Not saying that's an excuse for the players. I need to watch again.

He's been busy counting good money. Cut him some slack.

There were already questions about Dunbar's blitz pickup abilities in the offseason, and so far they still remain.

I would give Tyron the benefit of the doubt. He's the only one that has a proven track record. Should we be concerned, yea maybe but I'm not worried about him.

I'm pretty sure that both tackles will get help in games, Free probably more than anyone else. We''ll see.

They can help themselves by running Power run plays, which they didn't do last night.

Last night's game featured alot of no huddle stuff that they were hell bent on for whatever reasons.

As bad as Free was..... Bernadeau was pushed back often in pass protection.

We looked bad a lot last night. I seriously think it is a wake up call- however I see a unit not wanting to be embarrassed

I did some reviews last season where I said that they cheated the OL towards Free to help him. They would have the RG cheat towards Free and then would have Fred help right to compensate. I said that it would often leave Leary on an island almost like an OT.

The did that here in the first quarter and Leary gave up a sack. On the series after Leary gave up the sack, they quit doing it and Doug Free promptly gave up a sack.

Here is the play where Leary gave up the sack. You can see that the right 3 OL are bunched together and that Leary is in completely open space and has to play like an OT. This happened repeatedly last season, which makes Leary's success even more impressive considering that he had never played any NFL regular season snaps prior to game 1 of 2013.

Is Cameron Wake dropping back in a zone there?

And he played well last week so let's see what's going on. Balt ain't bad. Many of these guys are banged up. Two weeks of rest may help. We'll see.

The play looks like #52 is on a green dog.

Leary should have picked up #52 but the RB should have an alert for a green dog.

Big on Big blocking is what the Cowboys emphasize.

I'd also add, if you divide the field between the LG and C:

You have our 3 guys vs their 2 guys (RT, RG, C) v (DT, DT)

And our 3 guys vs their 2 guys (LT, LG, RB) v (RE, LB)

What should have been a 6 man protection, broke down on zone blitz.

Doug Free was terrible. I realize that Wake is a good player, but wow, Free was bad. Even on plays where Romo got rid of the ball in time, Free's defender was inches away from several more sacks.

Free has always look bad. This is nothing new.

I'm not a Doug Free fan but his performance was not terrible IMO. The one sack from his side was a stunting LB that Dunbar missed. He gave up no sacks against Wake in a pre-season game, wake is going to get a few pressures.
