Doug Free Looked Really Bad

What's the difference?

Free is simply not strong enough to handle power rushers. Even the year - 09? - when he played well at LT he got hammered by guys like Jared Allen. He's always been physically weaker than other guys and its not going to change now. I'd rather take a mental gaffe or two from Parnell than watch Free get bullied around all day.

Lol, many Cowboy fans are spoiled by good examples of outside dominance. Even if Flozell and Eric Williams were acquired in the second and third rounds...they were quality on the outside. Both could pass block or run block.

Bryan Broaddus touched on this subject last week prior to this game

If there is an offensive lineman for the Cowboys that has been steady in his approach and performance during this training camp, it has been Doug Free . The plan every week in the NFL is to protect your quarterback first and then everything else should take care of itself. Free has the difficult assignment of blocking the Dolphins’ best pass rusher, Cameron Wake. What makes this job even more important is that the offensive coaches are not truly game planning this game, so coming up with combinations for how to handle Wake through scheme will not be as extensive as if this was a regular season contest. There will be times where Free does get help from Zack Martin and DeMarco Murray , but the majority of the work will fall on his shoulders. Free is going to be at his technique best with his hands and feet in order to keep Wake from being a disruptive player -- which has been in the history of his NFL career.

I know you have. This is to all although I'm responding to your post as my remarks pertain to this topic as well.

Personal criticism and the remarks about other members esp as if they weren't there is not wanted.

People want to read everyone's critical analysis of a player but they generally don't want to read about how they or the OP are making excuses or how they are wrong reading it from another member to another. I know I want to read it even if I don't agree with it. This kind of stuff discourages people from trying to be analytical about the team and drives some away. It also kills threads.

If people want to say something personal then you guys can take it to PMs. If you don't agree with a person's analysis then say it without being personal. /mod hat off

I'll look at the new thread in awhile if I can, Bluestang. I value your judgment. I go out of my way to read your posts....even if we don't always agree.

People say that I'm biased, but what some of them don't mention is that they are biased to prove me wrong due to disagreements in the past relative to other subjects. People don't forget when you point out that they are wrong about salary cap issues or point out that they have a lot of mistakes in their roster projections like the fact that Lawrence can't go on PUP and that Scandrick doesn't count against the 53 while suspended.

I like getting feedback from people like Fuzzy even if he thinks I'm biased. He's probably right.

It seems obvious that other posters just have an agenda to prove me wrong regardless of the issue. If I've proven them wrong in the past obviously, they're going to do everything possible to prove me wrong on another subject.

What many people don't get is that I'm now seeing some people posting where they have specifically reviewed players for themselves and are giving an opinion of players like Free or Parnell instead of just accepting the media reports at face value or seeing one sack and determining that a player failed for then entire game.

If people start reviewing plays for themselves, then I'm winning regardless of whether they agree with me or not. I might change my Avatar to Charlie Sheen. Winning.

LOL. You're right about the discussions. You and I don't agree all the time. It would be a dull world if we all agreed. Divergent.

There's a good deal of marketability difference between the first and fourth rounds going into a draft.

As to Zach Martin, he is already at his position of strength. And since that is true, therefore, so is Free. Nobody else has beat him and grabbed the position from him at present.

Sorry, that doesn't also include preferences or projections...

Fair enough. No need to apologies :)

Nice posts and convo.

Cameron Wake is a great player and arguably the best pass rusher in the league even though he doesn't get much press... Not many teams leave their tackle on an island against Wake in a regular season game. He makes many OTs look very bad anytime he gets 1 on 1.

Doug Free was terrible. I realize that Wake is a good player, but wow, Free was bad. Even on plays where Romo got rid of the ball in time, Free's defender was inches away from several more sacks.

I'm trying to figure out if this is a new thread or one resurrected from prior years. A topic that is always topical...
