“He didn’t have to win the games for them,” Pederson said of Prescott with the Cowboys, who lost in the divisional playoffs after a 13-3 regular season. “He knew that he had a good defense, a tremendous offensive line, a great runner. He had some veteran players that he could rely on and he learned that early, as soon as he had the opportunity to play and that was from day one. That’s something that a young quarterback sometimes, takes them awhile to figure out the game that way. That’s the impressive thing is he learned to handle that business that well, utilize the people around him, and understand that he didn’t have to go win the game.”

He obviously meant this as a compliment in a way to not discredit Carson Wentz. I am guessing Pederson checked out during his first matchup against Dak where he came alive late in the game and stole a victory with his clutch, late game heroics.

Hopefully the competitor in Dak reads this as a NFC East foe trying to downplay his accomplishments.

They had a good defense? Glad to have you in the division coach!

Or PIT. Or SF. Or MIN, for that matter.

Wentz didn't have to win games for PHI, either. They finished with a losing record and out of contention.

So I don't know if this is just your shtick or if you're serious. Alex Smith is a 10 year vet. He definitely wasn't winning games early on with the Niners. Prescott is what Smith is after one season as starter?

You're saying Dak didn't win a single of the 13 games? He just happened to have the right plays and right players to come back from those games? And this is only controversy for us despite him winning rookie of the year.

Come on man

Its shtick, but that's a cover for his embarrassment for blowing both the Wentz trade call and the drafting of Dak in the first place. The goal being to make the take so absurd it's accepted as a parody of his original view. Instead of just saying "oops, my bad" in the first place.

So why are folks getting so bent out of shape over what Pederson said? Back when Romo's Cowboys were otherwise not so good and he really did have to win games for the team and that was viewed as a good thing but now that there is more of a system approach in place and a divisional foe has correctly analyzed the situation, he did something wrong? NO, he is right and we should own what we are now. Dare the divisional foes to come stop it. Pederson's Eagles didn't beat that system last season, the win they got in week 17 was handed to them by a coach resting his players until the playoffs. Our new system does have something to prove this coming season against a divisional foe but that's the Giant's not the Eagles. Giant's... we are coming for you!
