I am still giddy from last night. I had SDSU in that bracket and I had Duke beating AZ. So I am dead in my pool because I already lost Pittsburgh, but I will take an AZ win to keep going over any other scenario anyway.

I am proud of my Cats. That 2nd half was magical.

You guys are going to need it against Uconn. I hope Arz doesn't get to hyped I love bracket busters like the Cats. They make NCAA tourns fun.

If they play every night the way they did the 2nd half last night they could win it all.

I don't know if they play like that all of the time, but if they do they will be hard to beat.

If we can beat Duke, we can beat any team left in the tourney. People hate Duke. Hell I hate Duke. But I respect them too. They are always one of the very best basketball teams in the country.

Derrick Williams is the player of the tournament so far IMO. Blocked shots to end the first 2 games and then that performance last night. His one handed rebound tomahawk dunk was unreal, and then to shoot like that from behind the line.

Jimmer Fredette had the most pub, but Derrick Williams is the most unique player in the dance.

I believe you. But the only question i have for the Cats is can they bring it like they brought it in the 2nd half in the last 3 games. If they can do that, they will be in a position to win it all. But if they don't, they will get beat. Duke thought they had it, they were a good time, but like most good teams they can get caught smelling themselves. the cats played there best half and took the game away from duke. Now they've got to continue it.

I can't see the Cats winning it all. Kansas, Ohio State, and North Carolina are all still in the way along with Uconn who is no pushover.

Right now I like the way my Cats are playing, but they do not play like that every game or we'd be a 1 seed.

Duke thought they had it, they were a good time, but like most good teams they can get caught smelling themselves.

I guess nobody knows for sure, but I think this is a little of what happened to several of the Big East teams in this tourney.

Some played poorly, some got beat by better teams, some ran into poor matchups, but I think some entered the tourney as you say, .. smelling themselves.

I have coached for a long time and that will get you beat more times than not.

Sometimes kids won't listen, but it is up to the coach to find a way to point out the other teams strengths, success' and accomplishments so his kids respect the other team and play their best no matter who the opponent is.

Last year my team was 21-2, .. winning 17 in a row at one point.
My main objective throughtout that time as their coach was to keep them humble, and make sure they weren't "smelling themselves."

As it turns out, the thread title was going to be "Cats beat Duke" but Hos and I posted within seconds of each other and he posted sooner. Alas, "Down Goes Duke" was the title. Having said that, I do believe that the intention, on Hos' part, was to congratulate Arizona and not revel in the demise of Duke. Heck, I think this might be the first basketball Hos may have watched in several years, this season, I don't know.

I suppose Hos can speak for himself so I'll shut up on this point.

The only thing I don't understand about Pep is his signature. Why is he calling Coach K a "protege?"

Arizona has been a lot of fun to watch. I loved and hated watching them beat Texas (had the Horns in the final four) and I think they can take on UConn as well. Both teams are playing well so that will be a great game to watch this weekend. I think most people will be pulling for Arizona to bust more brackets!

... but there is something about the cocky Nolan Smith that rubs me the wrong way.

I hate dook as much as anybody, but Nolan Smith is a good kid. I don't see him as cocky at all. Ugly, though. Really ugly.

Maybe cocky was too strong, ... arrogant, I don't know but it is something like that. Can't warm up to him.

He seems to push the envelope on defense too, .. grabbing shirts, grabbing pants, hand checking, holding. But he gets away with it so if you can get away with it, more power to you.

Whatever it is that rubs me wrong, it disappeared in the 2nd half, he looked very average.

He is a great great player, probably should be mentioned with Fredette and Walker. Great shooter and competitor.

No that was their first round game. The block was clean but Witherspoon was fouled on the rebound before the shot. We should have had a chance to send it in to OT.
