If they signed Sam Howell and released this guy, that should be all you need to know.

It’s hard to finder a backup QB with more potential and nfl experience than Sam Howell right now, that isn’t like in his 30s at the tail end of his career.

He just started a NFL season 2 years ago on one of the worst squads in football, the 32nd ranked run offense, and threw for almost 4k yards and STILL is only 24 years old. Literally Joe Milton is older than him.

Look at the two games he started against the eagles, it’s no wonder the eagles have a very high opinion of him. That second game he went 39/52 for 397 yards, 4TDs and 1int. So being a late round rookie and getting replaced by him doesn’t say as much about him as what it says what they think about Howell.

Nah. Milton clearly needs time to develop, but has some exceptional traits. Is Dak goes down, McCord isn't going to save the season. May as well give the developmental prospect some work to get a read on his potential en route to a high draft pick...where you draft a QB.

Yeah he's new to football and does get upright. I think he moves better than Mazi & Toia and probably fits the Eberflus upfield scheme better than them. Moves really well for how big he is. I just don't know how raw he is to actual nfl coaches.

Good point, and he could see a similar regression within the next couple of years. Doubtful this season because that offense is loaded, but what happens when Saquan rides off into the sunset, or he loses one of his top two receivers? He's streaky. Strong enough arm. Does what he has to do. Nothing more but does seem to have some clutch in his genes. Maybe in the right system he flourishes.
