This is a good argument. I do think Parsons is probably the best player on the Cowboys but I don't think he is the best DE, passrusher or defensive player in the NFL. Myles Garrett and TJ Watt are better to me. Micah should be paid under those 2. TJ Watt and Myles Garrett are both equally as good if not better pass rushers and are better run defenders. But I am guess age is the reason why Parson's is projected to be worth more?

We focus too much on final years of deals. There has only been one mega deal with 100% guaranteed money in Watson. Most long term contracts teams can get out of in the last year or two with minimal repercussions. IMO the possibility of Micah wearing down is just reason to sign him sooner rather than later, and why it probably should have gotten done a year ago. Sign him to 5 years back in 2024, would have saved probably $5m per year and you're looking at a situation where he could likely have been cut/moved at age 29 once his guaranteed money was paid.

This is way we always end up not being able to trade and we end up having to eat the dead cap when we finally decide to move on. Jerry's contact to Amari was the reason we could only get a 5th rounder for Amari Cooper when we traded him to the Browns who were then able to trade him for a 3rd rounder, after a few years lol.
the 3 of them are very close. especially if you consider double team rate and pass rush win rate. he might not have as many sacks but he's in the same tier as them. i have no problem putting any of the 3 ahead of the other as pass rusher. as a DE, he's undersized and probably should be moving around more at lb while still primarily rushing. that's not on him. when he's played lb, he hasn't been a run or coverage liability compared to lbs. it's only at DE where he's not a great run defender.
