Draft a quarterback

They should have been doing this regardless. Patriots were drafting QBs regularly even when they had Brady. They developed them and traded them for picks.
We don't have anyone to develop a qb on this staff. It's quite obvious. The most telling fact is we refuse to bring in competition.

Dak was drafted to "develop" due to frequent injuries to Romo. We need to draft a qb badly. We're about 3 years late.

Who drafted Dak?
Who' moved Dak up to starter?
Who paid Dak?
Who wants Dak back?

We are looking at the wrong person in the overall scope of the situation.
Dak's talent isn't on par for Super Bowls or Super Bowl success, he's a suitable backup but that's it. But who is the person who thinks Dak is starter material? Trash the man all you want, but he didn't put himself in this position, someone else did.

Once Dak knows he won’t be starting he will beg to be traded and with luck some other team will need a QB in week 3 or 4 because of injury. If not then let him sit all year long. Bye Dak.
Have some sobering news for you he’s going be starting until they find someone better. Jerry isn’t about to leave himself without a QB and go through years of QB hell. Some of you want us to end up like Washington. If they had a viable QB they would probably be better than the Cowboys. They’ve been looking for a QB ever since they moved on from Kirk Cousins. They would be making the playoffs practically every year had they kept him and wouldn’t have wasted a number of draft picks.

one play and expand over 1000s of plays...

can I do the same for any QB and just take a single play and extrapolate to 1000s of plays.

btw, I am not saying Dak is absolved. but I am not dismissing the short comings of the rest of the team for "one play". so was ty hilton open on every play based on that one play?

but yeah, I get your agenda. you just want a single person to carry the burden of all the fault and short comings. that's the type of thinking that Jones has had that got us here in the first place. because we think one single thing is the difference between a championship and not having one.
No agenda. And I don’t believe Dak has to be the guy to win the game. He just can’t be the guy who loses the game, like he did yesterday. Their 3rd string rookie did not win the game but he didn’t lose it. Your criticism of the receivers was really a criticism of Dak not being able to read defenses or find the open man. Dak was exposed yesterday and you tried to deflect. Enough.

Everyone that watched yesterday’s game knows exactly why the Cowboys lost.

Enough time, money, and resources have been invested in Dak Prescott to get to a Championship. And it hasn’t happened.

And if you’re a rational organization, you admit that and realize it’s unlikely that it ever will.

Now because of poor management, you’re financially stuck with the player and two years of the contract. But that doesn’t mean you have to be stuck on the field.

Draft a quarterback.

Send a message to the incumbent and give yourself another valid option. And allow yourself an ‘out’ from the disappointing results and financial burden.

It’s time.
I definitely have been a Dak supporter, but after yesterday it should be heavily considered. Maybe someone falls in the first and if they're the best player go get them if they're the BPA. If not there definitely in the 2nd or 3rd. Cowboys will have to do some work in free agency first to sure up some spots they may lose players at.

I wouldn’t TOUCH that current contract. All they’ll do is make a BAD situation WORSE.
I don't disagree, but the way jerry boy did it is the last two years you get hit full amount and then some....so we take the hit. limit our FA signing, suffer two years and then walk away or perhaps even walk away on a post june release and suffer to milder years.

I don't hold hope that they will make the change.. but I think you sit dak down.. tell him that he isn't the QB of choice and will sep will either be riding the pine or sharing snaps with another QB.. that should make him receptive to trade offers.

I think you might have to eat some of his salary but I think there are a few teams that would take the gamble.. they will assume they can put enough support around him.. or better coaching. There will be several teams that think he is worth the risk.

I wanted to trade him two years ago when he really had currency.. but well. I still think we could get a mid 1st round for him.. I really do.

But this comes down to understanding where we are at.. our FO thinks we are 'close'.. and that is the problem. We are not close.. we are a very good team that will win plenty of games.. but there is a reason we are not getting out of the divisional round. We need an upgrade at QB, we need another CB, We need more cover in defence in general. We need another outside WR threat, we need depth at RB, we need a run protection OLineman. No way we fill those holes with Dak eating 25% of the cap.

again, was he a contributor? yes. did he have a large impact? yes. were there others at fault? yes.

Dak and then bad WRs is a bad combination. CD did it. Gallup has been average all year, specially after his contract. Brown is what brown is. and TY hilton an older, out of football, late year addition.

should Dak made the throw to hilton?, Actually Kurt Warner disagreed with Orlovsky. and no it wouldn't necessarily have been a TD (TV sensastionalism) as Warner was deep with CD and not srure if hilton would have made it. also, I went back and watch the point before the ball was thrown and what did QB see and it was 50/50. an Elite QB would have made the throw. Dak is not elite. could have been a big throw.

but after that.... there was plenty of game. Diggs could have hit Kittle and not allow him to make a catch and force them to punt. he is a defensive player. his job is to tackle and hit. he whiffed like he was playing jr varsity flag football. Diggs had an interception right in his hand, inside the ten and dropped it. make that and they don't score and game still tied.

good players have to step up in key moments. we didn't. Dak, Diggs, Zeke, etc.

I actually disagree. There are teams who see him as a top 10 QB.

He has a no trade clause. He won't be traded unless he says he can be. That on top of the financing means nobody can take him unless he 1) agrees and 2) Agrees to a serious reworking of it and likely a pay cut.

We're stuck with that choker.

Draft a guy in mid to late rounds if there's somebody promising. I'm not ready to give up a premium pick yet, let alone burning bunch of picks to move up. Risk/Reward isn't there.

Can't force it.

And I think a decent quarterback will put Dak on the bench. hopefully he'll take a pay cut to play somewhere else.

I’m all for drafting a QB at some point in this draft but I don’t see the Cowboys using a premium pick on one but you never know. When I say a premium pick, I’m not talking about a first rounder, but maybe a second rounder. However, I’m not sure the Joneses are ready to make a move that high in the draft just yet. Another up-and-down season by Dak in 2023 and they’ll be seriously looking for a QB. He’ll be entering the final year of his contract in 2024. I have some doubts Jerry will extend Dak if the INT’s and inconsistency continue next season. We’ve reached just about the point where we need to start preparing for life after Dak. Hopefully he’ll bounce back next year and start showing consistency again. He’s capable of some great games, we saw it against Tampa in the playoffs but we just don’t know what Dak we’re going to get from week to week. When a QB becomes up-and-down and inconsistent, that’s when a team decides to move on. The Raiders finally had enough of Derek Carr and his up-and-down play. Anyone who brings him up as a replacement for Dak’s I’ll laugh in your face. Lol

If teams can trade Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz don’t tell me it can’t be done.

Fat Mike is actually known for developing QBs. He's worked with Montana, Grbac, Gannon, Favre and obviously Rodgers.
