Draft a quarterback

Dak is done. He will be 30 next season, the same age that Peyton and Brees won their Super Bowl...and Dak is nowhere near two HOF QBs. He is only going to get worse in this next 2-3 years before he loses his place as a starting NFL QB.

How many starting QBs keep their job for almost 10 years without making it to the NFC Championship Game? Let's say they get rid of McCarthy at some point...how many QBs stick around for 3 different head coaches? That's almost unheard of. Dak is not good enough to be an exception to the norm. His time will be over here sooner rather than later. We are in the endgame with him...the countdown begins!

Nope....you wanted him, you got him. A number of us have been complaining the whole time Dak never should of even recieved his second contract because he just didn't have what it took to be a top tier QB. Those now just starting to complain. Well you are very late but welcome to the club. Sorry to break the news to you but Dak is still going to be your QB so just sit back and enjoy watching the Sh!tshow. JJ is not going to get rid of Dak until it is financially feasible to do so. So Dak is again going to be your starting QB next season and we get to play the What If game again.

What do you think about Justin Fields? Chicago has 1st overall, so you may be able to convince them to QB reset.

Dak to the Jets for a draft haul, then a 1 to Chi for Fields. Rookie contract, mobile QB, spend that money on getting him a deep WR group
Not much of an upgrade. We need a true passer that can read defenses and build a running game around him.

Its a throwing league. Look at the arm talent some of these guys have right now. Its rather amazing to see what throws they can make. Dak can make the throws if the guys are open. Tight windows cause him to get the Yips.

Your whole premise is destroyed in one play. The play was even highlighted on ESPN this morning. On the seam route Dak threw low to a covered CeeDee, Hilton was wide open on the left seam with just grass between him and the end zone. They even said it was obvious based on the pre snap read. Dak can’t read defenses and throws to covered receivers all the time while others are open. That’s not a problem with receivers.
one play and expand over 1000s of plays...

can I do the same for any QB and just take a single play and extrapolate to 1000s of plays.

btw, I am not saying Dak is absolved. but I am not dismissing the short comings of the rest of the team for "one play". so was ty hilton open on every play based on that one play?

but yeah, I get your agenda. you just want a single person to carry the burden of all the fault and short comings. that's the type of thinking that Jones has had that got us here in the first place. because we think one single thing is the difference between a championship and not having one.

I think after all these years Dak has proven what he is capable of and what he is not capable of doing.
His ceiling seems to be making the playoffs and possibly winning a game.

So this is really pretty simple if you want to go further in the tournament become active in free agency and surround him with more talent or spend a first round draft pick and draft a quarterback roll the dice and hope you get somebody that can take you further.

This really isn't rocket science just look at the eagles they saw Carson Wentz wasn't going to get it done for them they realized their mistake and reloaded with another quarterback that they thought would get them further.

Then they went buckwild and free agency and stacked their roster with talent to help him out.

I just don't know why this is so difficult for Jerry to comprehend when he has the models in front of him and is now watching the eagles blast by him again and probably go to another super bowl in this decade while we sit on our hands

contractually we are stuck for two years, unless we go full rebuild mode. which I doubt if Jones will do, so probably rework contract, give him more money to extend the contract and then he is here one more year before we cut him next year after June 1st.

then the QB shopping cycle begins. who are scheduled to be FAs next year. and then what would we be able to draft. to have a legit chance, we need to be in top 10-15.

Jerry J. has a reputation as a shrewd businessman who makes money hand-over-fist. Also the same guy who invested ridiculous (and cap-limited) team resources in both Dak & Zeke. If he gave half the consideration to football expenditures as he has to oil wells, we'd have at least three more Lombardi trophies.

They should draft Hendon Hooker and let that ACL heal up, I think he has the biggest upside of all this year's QBs and due to the injury most other teams will probably be afraid to pick him. Just drafting him would put more pressure on Dak to improve than resigning Rush would.

Think about it. The last 2 decades, we've been at the helm of an undrafted free agent and a 4th round pick. It's time to start exercising our resources in this position. Why should we be surprised when our quarterback performs at 4th round level when that's exactly what he is. I understand that you're not projected to make a hit on every qb in the first round, but look at all the qbs in the AFC. At some point, you have to make that plunge and hope you hit a homerun. It's time to move on, and it's time to put someone competent behind center.

This has been the problem. The org hasn't taken the QB position seriously since Troy Aikman was drafted. Instead wasted our time with screw up QBs like Romo and Dak. Enough is enough.
It seems like they think they’re smarter than everyone else and can ‘game the system’. And ultimately they’re the ones that end up looking dumb.

I want a pony for Christmas....
With Jerry it aint happening.
We have to continue to coddle Dak and drafting a QB in the first might hurt his feelings.

I wouldn’t TOUCH that current contract. All they’ll do is make a BAD situation WORSE.

The following is why we simply cannot waste two more years with Dak is simple. Jalen Hurts and Howie Roseman. We are NEVER going to reach another Super Bowl if we are expecting Dak to shine for three (3) straight games against the best teams in the NFC....and that is what it will take, because we are NOT going to win the NFC East while Jalen Hurts is the starter, and Howie Roseman is drafting, making great trades, and willing to signing Free Agents. We cannot afford to let Boogers mistake take the field for two more years, and burn two more years off the careers of the decent players we do have. The one positive is that Booger cannot fire himself for the horrible deal he signed him to...he can draft a QB in three (3) months and HONESTLY let him compete for the job...he DOES have the luxury if he would be smart enough to do so. But we know that he won't...so, the best case scenario is that we are looking at 2025 as the year that we even see his replacement....then there is the maturation period....sigh....I am so depressed.

Draft a real QB to challenge Dak
Not sure if Minshew is signed for next year but if he’s a FA I’d bring him in to compete with Dak
Daks feet need to be held to the fire

The guy Dak replaced comes to mind. It seems to be an organizational thing with this team. They see what they want to see and expect more than the QB can deliver.

Sure, draft a prolific QB, that's panned out for us the last 30 years.

They should have been doing this regardless. Patriots were drafting QBs regularly even when they had Brady. They developed them and traded them for picks.
