NFLDS: Ron Brace..."often faces only one blocker"

Just saying what I heard. I think they share the load of being double team. Brace, in my opinion might be the better NT but Raji might be the better player.

Brace is within reach and Raji is not. Even if he slips out of the first rd he will go real early in the second.

I seriously doubt we would trade up into the 1st to get him and that would be stupid to do too, especially if he just falls out of the top 10.

Rampage just PM'd me to ask me to ask you to change his caption from 'In Romo We Trust' to 'Size Queen.' He said there's something wrong with his PM permissions, or he'd do it himself.

Thanks, Hos.

This could very easily be a Ron Brace highlight film. Taken on 2 sometimes 3 guys while not being pushed backed, showing penetration in the backfield. I was told the lber core made there run defense so good. Not by that video. Back on the Ron Brace bandwagon. Anybody with me.

edit: There lber core does look pretty good I might add

I'd be fine with Brace, even if he is unspectacular. I'd also be fine with passing on him if we'd rather go with a more athletic guy like Scott, or a much later round guy just to give Ratliff an occasional breather.

But I'll say again that Raji doesn't impress me that much. He's not very smart, he's fat, and he's not even a great athlete. In a decent draft class for DTs, I think he'd be rated a lot lower than he is.

I am a big Brace fan but to honest I really like Scott as well. There's also Chris Baker later in the draft so if we pass on Brace I won't lose any sleep over it.

But there was a guy on here saying Brace almost never gets double teamed that video just proved to him he was wrong.

that's a highlight film bro

over a large body of work, Brace just didn't demand the double-teams

Raji did not play in 2007. BC led the nation in rushing defense with Ron Brace as the anchor of that line. When people say that he did not face many double teams it should add 'in 2008.' There is plenty of film of him doing it and doing it well.

Not sure that it was you who actually said it but just in that piece alone they were 5 or so different times. So your tellin me that this film caught they only 5 times Brace was doubled throughout the season? I watched the games, I even went to their board to talk with guys who watched every game and they basically said the same thing. He faced constant doulbe teams all season. I understand your stance with him but we can at least admit to the guy faced double teams on a consistent basis.

no, I'm saying that people who have seen a large body of his work, say that he rarely faced double-teams opposite Raji

I can't admit to something where the guys at a reputed draft site, who NFL people pay to subscribe to, among others, say different

Ron Brace

6'3, 326 pounds | Boston College | Defensive tackle

Strengths:
Brace possesses the size of a two-gap plugger, but the quickness to of a one-gap tackle. He uses that size and quickness to stuff the run nicely. He has a powerful base and is hard to move around. Because of that, running backs have to adjust where they're going or run right into Brace. Strong against the double team. During the 2008 season, Brace would regularly take up two blockers so teammate B.J. Raji could burst into the backfield. Uses his power to collapse the interior of the pocket. Good agility, which allows him to slide down the line really well.

This is what he does when he has one on one blocking:
