There are a few things that are going through my mind watching the combine

1. If we get a deal done for Dak and franchise tag Cooper we might have a tough decision should Lamb or Jeudy be there at 17.

2. And why are we re-signing Cobb? I feel like we should be positioning ourselves to allow us to take a WR. I'd be okay if we franchise-tagged Cooper and then picked up Lamb as a 3rd WR or if one of the many quality guys drops in the 2nd or 3rd but if we've got Cobb I think that shuts the door on those draft options.

3. If there's a top-four OT on the board at 17 tI think that's a really good scenario for us......I'm confident we'd find a trade partner. If I'm the Seahawks with Wilson at QB protected by Ifidi, I'd bite your hand off for a fair trade up to 17 knowing I've got two 2nd round picks and I can package one of them and looking at the trade value chart 17 is probably the sweet spot for them.

4. DT in the first is a pipe dream. I don't see any scenario where Brown or Kinlaw are there and the DE's IMO are rubbish. We're looking at another Taco Charlton or Tristan Hill if we take either a DT or DE at 17..

5. Safety is a great option in the mid 20's, I'm less enamoured with Delpit or McKinney at 17. The same goes for CB's....I don't really have a standout between Henderson, Diggs, Fulton, Gladney, Arnette or Danzler. They all have 1st/2nd round grade in my eyes and are in a tight bunch with McKinney, Delpit and half a dozen WR's. They are probably all 23-38 on my draft board and almost interchangeable. The combine could easily put any one of them at the top.

free-agency will determine alot but i've been thinking Penn St DE Yetur Gross-Matos and Lsu DE K'Lavon Chaisson might get serious consideration at 17.
would not shock me if one of'm were our pick.

i find it hard to envision a scenario where Bama WR Henry Ruggs is on the board @17 and isn't the BPA.
i'd rather take him than a lesser player at a position of need.
but after his 40 time...and his quality tape...i don't think we'll face that scenario.

I have Chaisson in the 15-25 range and Gross Matos in the 25-35 range. I hope we don't pick either but could accept Chaisson. Ruggs I have behind Lamb and Jeudy but still well above all CB's, safties and DT's not named Okudah, Brown or Kinlaw.

Ruggs is in the blue-chip echelon and the safties/CB are 1/2's.

both those DEs have the size/length they like...i think i might agree with you Chaisson over YGM...but i'd be good with him.
he always seemed around the ball or makin plays in the back-field in the games i watched.

if one of those wrs were to be there at 17...i'd pull the trigger unless Okudah or Kinlaw is there.

Kinlaw is the dream pick. But I’d be happy with Chaisson or Ruggs. I can’t imagine a scenario where Lamb is still on the board. But IMO he is the best WR in the class and would be elated to have him.

I would take Ruggs in a second is he is there at 17 and Kinlaw and Brown are gone. But I remember one year when the Cowboys really needed WRs, Jerry didn't pick a single WR in the draft. I believe Jerry's reasoning was "there was no one in the draft better than what he already had" or something to that effect. So I cannot imagine him taking a WR if Cooper and Cobb are re-signed to go with Gallup.

They claim they are going to take the best football player available this year. I do wonder what they will do if the BPA at 17 is an offensive player. I suppose they could trade down, but I do believe there will be a quality player available at 17.

I think theres a real good chance Lamb or Jeudy are there at 17.

I think someone falls in love w Ruggs and he goes first, and a lot of teams figure to get a good WR later.

I am very skeptical on the Chiasson edge types that are mocked in the 15-25 range.

Agreed the top DTs arent happening without dealing up, which cant really happen. Theres too many holes and too many 2-4th round guys that can help.

On NFL.com Chaisson is ranked above all WRs and Kinlaw with a grade of 6.88 MM has said get the very best players regardless of scheme and that we need pass rushers because we're going to score a lot of points so if he's there to me that's a no brainer.

Overview
Possessing an impressive diversity of moldable pass-rushing ingredients and moves, Chaisson has begun putting the recipe together to become a game-altering pass rusher. While some long-limbed rushers lack the bend and leverage to maximize their length, his fluidity and agility allow him to dip, corner, change direction and close in tight quarters or with extended range. He's not a physical run defender and might be a liability early in his career against power. Chaisson's stock has gained momentum with his surging performance matching the elite athletic qualities. It adds up to an increasingly confident projection as an impact pass-rusher with Pro-Bowl potential.

Strengths
  • Wears the 18 jersey, given to high-character leader
  • Good lower-body thickness for a longer frame
  • Smart player on and off the field
  • Very quick laterally and up the field off snap
  • Tremendously agile and flexible
  • Has two-hand swipe and rapid inside-spin counter
  • Hides play-side shoulder, dips and elongates around the corner for wins
  • Inside counters are low, smooth and dangerous
  • Converts speed to power with long-arm bull-rush
  • Consistently hits quarterback on T/E twists
  • Range to disrupt the mesh-point against zone-read
  • Easy change-of-direction talent to chase in all directions

1. If either Lamb/Juedy are available at I make the pick. I think both are legit, top 10 prospects and the value is too strong to say no to. It’s a great WR class...but those guys are elite.

2. Agree. This is the best WR class I can remember. Resign Cooper and lets get a mid round WR that would go in the 2nd round in any other draft.

3. Highly possible. If we don’t like what’s available at 17 I like the idea of getting to the 20s and adding another pick. Depends on what’s available.

4. With the amount of QBs/WRs/OTs that go early I think we’ll be surprised at what’s available at 17.

5. Agree. If we lose BJ, I think CB in the mid 20s makes the most sense. I think the class has great depth, but isn’t very strong at the top outside of Okudah.

I like the player, I’m just weary of the lack of production. In the top 20, I want an NFL athlete with great college production.

There’s some risk involved with him IMO.

For some weird reason I’m stating to think Jeudy will be there at 17.

I’d be perfectly fine with that pick, but want no part of Ruggs...even if we lose Cooper.

His production dipped in 2018 with a torn ACL but other than that he's very productive I'd take him in a heart beat.

K'Lavon (pronounced KAY-luh-vahn) Chaisson followed a friend to an LSU football camp and wound up receiving a scholarship offer despite not yet playing a down of varsity ball. Two years later, the Houston North Shore High School product was a four-star prospect and top-50 overall recruit. He started three of 12 games played as a true freshman in 2017, posting 27 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and two pass breakups off the edge. Big things were expected for Chaisson in 2018, but he tore his ACL in the season opener; he had five tackles and a sack in his only game of the year. He met those expectations in his redshirt sophomore season, helping the Tigers take the national crown by garnering first-team All-SEC honors with a team-high 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks among his 60 total stops in 13 starts.

i would consider taking one of the top OTs if they slide to 17,all of them are very good and tyron has so many injuries.

So in his 3rd season as a full time starter were ok with 13.5 TFLs for a top 20 pick?

With the depth at WR in this years draft, I can't see them using a 1st on one even if they don't resign Cooper.
Agreed on Cobb as well - draft his replacement unless he signs cheap.

I'm all for finding a way to trade down in 1st to get either of the safeties.

In regards to DT...that has to be a FA signing. They take awhile to develop and it's a giant need now.

I’ll be so pissed if Gross-Matos is our pick at 17.

I think the idea is he's a Danielle Hunter. Better professional than college player. Hunter was a 3rd rounder though...
