What does the draft chart say to move up to the Colts pick? Would just Dak get it done?
You would have to give some team draft picks to take Dak's contract....he has zero trade value. Worse than zero value.

26 up to 7 would require multiple firsts.. but frankly they wouldn't want to trade back as they're probably gonna want to trade up themselves to nab one of th etop tier QBs

Tyler Smith was solid picked in that neighborhood . Mid to late 20’s. Good teams find good players . Is this the Chiefs what 5th straight AFC championship game .

They seem to draft near the bottom every round . By the way Hill traded to Miami and here they are right next to a SB . But all season long Amari Cooper gone was an issue to the passing game .

It doesn't matter what pick you have, or what impact player you can select, as long as Dak is the QB Dallas is not going to get anywhere

Should make for an interesting dynamic on if that extra contract year applies or not
There will only be 31 first rounders. The Steelers, picking at #32, will have the first pick in the 2nd round. They won't have a 5th year option for that pick.

Yes and I guess hypothetically if you want to use your 7th round pick for the next 20 years on QBs you might find a good one. However the majority of starting QBs, especially good ones, are found in the upper half of the first round. There is a reason that players like WIlson, Dak, and Brady are considered noteworthy and it is because they are the rare exception.
50% of the qbs that are still playing were not taken in the first round.

Last I heard the 9ers QB was picked last in the 2022 draft and did what WENTZ 2.0 couldn't do! I'd rather take a chance in the draft than have Prescot back next year.
Prescot is under contract.

That is not true at all. A team would trade for Dak. He is an above average starter in this league.

Teams have gotten out of worse contracts in the past. All it takes is one desperate team that thinks it's win now mode.

List all the franchise QBs right now (aka the QBs teams feel like they can contend with so no Davis Mills who is clearly a transition QB): Mahomes, Herbert, Carr, Allen, Tua, Burrow, Jackson, Watson, Lawrence, Hurts, Dak, Stafford, Murray, Cousins, Rodgers, and Brady. Then you have guys who have small asterisk aka guys who might be: Geno Smith, Mac Jones, Daniel Jones, Goff, Tannehill, and then Mr. Irrelevant. Could also talk about Russell Wilson who is a franchise guy by force. Every other starting QB teams are actively looking to move on from (the Raiders are moving on from Carr but he will absolutely be starting somewhere for a team that thinks they are a QB away).

Now with that list go ahead and tell me the draft positions of the QBs in question. Of the 16 guys I put on the franchise list 13 are 1st round picks with overwhelming majority being high 1st round picks. Even in the second list of asterisk guys only 2 were non first round QBs. Basically you can find a backup level QB who was not drafted in the first round but if you want a franchise QB you look to the 1st round and generally high in the first round.

Not a chance. Not a single one of the top QBs will make it past 15 at the latest. If there is a first round QB who legitimately deserves to be picked they do not make it past the first half of the first round.
Aaron Rodgers says hello.
