Thanks for posting this.

After watching them, I have 2 thoughts:

1. I'd be happy with Lawson, Carpenter or Wimbley. Lawson is uber fast and has awesome athleticism (though my only concern would be at point of attack with him), Wimbley has nice size and looks like he would be great at the point of attack (but no so much in coverage). Carpenter looks all around solid and would be ready to roll (though I didn't like all the ankle tackles he made). They all look like I'd be happy with any of them.

2. My second thought was: how did any team score on any of these defenses. NC State should have pitched a shut-out all year. Florida St has like 5 first rounders on defense. Ohio St has several as well. Amazing Defenses.
I was mainly impressed by Carpenters speed and ability to get to the QB. I saw that his stats indicated that he had 8 sacks, but after seeing, I'm a believer.

My choice would be in this order....

1. Carpenter= just looks like a football player

2. Lawson= great potential because of athletic ability

3. Wimbley= solid pick

BTW, We really should try and pick Charlie Whitehurst as well. Could be a diamond in the rough.

Thanks for taking the time to post these. That is some great and interesting footage.

Lawson is an incredible athlete. I wonder how bad he wants to be a great player. If he has "heart" he could end up being a great one in the 3-4.

You all are welcome. I looked all over the internet and finally found this vikings website that had all of these, so I supposed they may add more in a few days.

Anyone else besides me worried that Manny lined up on the right side all of the time? Thats demarcus ware's territory. I wonder how comfortable manny would be on the left side.

The problem with these highlights is that they are highlights. I could probably find enough clips of Scott Shanle and make him look good.....

**Sorry if this is a re-post**

I just wanted to apologize to this board for arguing over not taking
Bobby Carpenter with the 18th pick, because after watching his video, I am completely sold on this guy. This guy is mean, big, fast, and can get after your QB
and the best thing is his size. So to MW and Hos, and Rack, I'm sorry... Enjoy the videos

(you'll have to wait for a commercial before the actual video starts)

Carpenter wrapped up well, and I think he gets knocked because he doesn't "blow up" players.

Carpenter looked a little slow off of the ball. I am not sure how good of a pass rusher he would be but he is definately solid against the run.

Manny Lawson seems like lot of speed, but I think he looks more like a Tall WR than a DE. I do like Carpenter more, since he seems to have that burst. Ether way, highlight films don't do much for me, since everything looks good in highlight reels, and since from the games I watched Carpenter/Lawson played, I didn't see the plays that made me go wow, but then I only saw limited games.

I agree with everyone else. Based purely on these videos Lawson is the best pass-rusher. I would rank them (1) Lawson, (2) Wimbley, (3) Carpenter based on pass-rushing alone.

The clip of Lawson chasing down the QB from the opposite side was just sick.

Carpenter may be better at stopping the run based on his size and strength. I'm not really sure who would be best in pass coverage. Lawson's speed makes me lean toward him though.

I find it slightly disconcerting that Lawson has only two moves, a good outside speed rush and a mediocre spin move.
In terms of pass rushing skills I would rank them Wimbley, Carpenter, and Lawson based on comparable highlight videos.

Yeah, after re-watching, Lawson is long but has a fast stride, and more powerful than I thought. I like Carpenters low center of gravity, he's like a bowling ball just mowing down people.

Watching Derek Hagan, I don't know if he was playing against 2nd stringers or not, but it seemed like he was wide open most of the time.
