the only common tendency we see from Bill in drafting, is he generally takes players from major schools in major conferences, w/ the exception of the great athletes that he cant' pass up from smaller schools, such as Ware and Hatcher

I don't know about that Summer. I think our past tendancies have shown that we don't draft from out west much at all. From North Dakota down to Texas and west, you got one guy from USC, two guys from Colorado, one guy from KSt., one guy form OU, one guy from OSt. and that's pretty much it.

ok, then add that in as a tendency, but what I stated is true

About, you mean big programs? I don't know. Big Programs from the East, I'd probably go along with. I'd say that Texas, OU, Nebraska, USC and Arizona would probably all qualify as big time programs form big time conferences.

I'm not saying they aren't, I'm just saying the only tendency I can see is Bill likes players from big schools, unless they are too talented to pass up such as Ware and Hatcher

about which big schools he's more apt to look at, even if in fact he does exclude schools, I can't determine

Ill fill in the blanks hehe.

1st OG Justin Blalock, Texas
2nd NT Amobi Okoye, Louisville
3rd FS/CB Jonathan Wade, Tennessee
4th OLB/DE Brian Smith, Missouri
5th OG Mansfield Wrotto, Georgia Tech
6th FS/CB Dashon Goldson, Washington
7th CB/FS Marquice Cole, Northwestern

FA OG Jermane Mayberry
FA OLB/DE Shaun Phillips (Longshot)
FA FS Deon Grant

However I dont understand the logic behind getting so many guys in the same position. But thats the way Id go with those empty blanks :). Not really a great draft for Nose Tackles...

I dont see BP picking anyone from UT.Not that I dont think he'll be a good prospect,I think BP is partial to players from the north.

I don't think the FO likes Texas players.

That comment about "country club" colleges was directed at Texas IMO.

Amobi Okoye DT/Louisville would be a nice first round pick . The kid has 4 years playing experience with a good program under a good coach , and he's only 20 years old . At 6-1 317lbs. he'd be big enough to play NT behind Ferguson , but is also athletic enough to make a run at Canty for some DE time .

While I don't see WR as a real high need on this team , this year would be a good season to get one . Some guys are going to drop into the second round that might go in the first in previous years . I really like Anthony Gonzales from Ohio State and Paul Williams from Fresno state . Both kids have good size , great speed and kick return ability .

Another kid I'd love to pick up in the 4th or 5th round is Brian Leonard FB/Rutgers . He's the best running and receiving FB in the NCAA and also a pretty good blocker . Sure would be a nice check down guy for Romo .

As somenody else mentioned , I'd lose no sleep over Justin Blaylock . He's one of the better guards to come out in years .

I don't think Bill would go out of his way to avoid a player because he went to Texas

I don't know that it's the North, per say but he does have a tendancy to stick to the East and Mid West. Almost nothing from the west.

Since he's been here, we have drafted from the following:

2006 1 1 18 18 Bobby Carpenter LB Ohio State
2 2 21 53 Anthony Fasano TE Notre Dame
3 3 28 92 Jason Hatcher DE Grambling State
4 4 28 125 Skyler Green WR Louisiana State
5 5 5 138 Pat Watkins DB Florida State
6 6 13 182 Montavious Stanley DT Louisville
7 7 3 211 Pat McQuistan T Weber State
8 7 16 224 E.J. Whitley C Texas Tech
2005 1 1 11 11 Demarcus Ware DE Troy State
2 1 20 20 Marcus Spears DE Louisiana State
3 2 10 42 Kevin Burnett LB Tennessee
4 4 8 109 Marion Barber RB Minnesota
5 4 31 132 Chris Canty DE Virginia
6 6 34 208 Justin Beriault DB Ball State
7 6 35 209 Rob Petitti T Pittsburgh
8 7 10 224 Jay Ratliff DE Auburn
2004 1 2 11 43 Julius Jones RB Notre Dame
2 2 20 52 Jacob Rogers T USC
3 3 20 83 Stephen Peterman G Louisiana State
4 4 25 121 Bruce Thornton DB Georgia
5 5 12 144 Sean Ryan TE Boston College
6 7 4 205 Nathan Jones DB Rutgers
7 7 15 216 Patrick Crayton WR NW Oklahoma State
8 7 22 223 Jacques Reeves DB Purdue
2003 1 1 5 5 Terence Newman DB Kansas State
2 2 6 38 Al Johnson C Wisconsin
3 3 5 69 Jason Witten TE Tennessee
4 4 6 103 Bradie James LB Louisiana State
5 6 5 178 B.J. Tucker DB Wisconsin
6 6 13 186 Zuriel Smith WR Hampton
7 7 5 219 Justin Bates G Colorado
2002 1 1 8 8 Roy Williams DB Oklahoma
2 2 5 37 Andre Gurode G Colorado
3 2 31 63 Antonio Bryant WR Pittsburgh
4 3 10 75 Derek Ross DB Ohio State
5 4 31 129 Jamar Martin RB Ohio State
6 5 33 168 Ralph Hunter DB Virginia Union
7 6 7 179 Tyson Walter T Ohio State
8 6 36 208 Deveren Johnson WR Sacred Heart
9 6 39 211 Bob Slowikowski TE Virginia Tech

That breaks down as follows:

Big 10 - 8
SEC - 8
Big 12 - 5
Big East - 5
ACC - 4
Independants - 2
Mid America - 1
PAC 10 - 1
Other - 6

Only 1 Pac 10 player.
No USA
No MWC
No Sun Belt
No WAC

This may change as we now use a pro scouting service but we will see.

Break it down by region and it's south, south, and more south.

Michael Bush from Louisville appears like he'll be like Brandon Jacobs of the Giants.

Hoping for Kenny Irons from Auburn myself as a 2nd pick
