Talking best RB’s in another thread got me to thinking Drew probably the best wide out in Cowboy history with of course guys like Bob Hayes Tony Hill in the conversation . Glad to see Drew finally get the HOF respect . Of course Michael 88 in the mix , Dez had some good yrs .
Irvin is the best WR in Cowboys history. It's really him, then everyone else.

Frank Clarke.

If you ever watched the Bullet play back in the day, you'd be hard pressed to pick any of the others over him. He was constantly held and bumped, yet still blew past DBs.

Yes he was great . I’m thinking steady durable longevity stats ….Pearson was the epitome of great in the 70’s . That Minnesota catch oh boy

Change the rules.

Have Irvin play when DBs can hold a WR till the ball is in the air. Irvin would be hard pressed to succeed at a top level under the rules of the 70's. You needed to be perfect in your technique. Irvin played more to overpower the opponent with the famous push off at the end. That wouldn't create separation if the defender is draped on you.

Pearson on the other side would be unstoppable if let run free. He would run precise routes to get open, even when everyone knew the ball was coming to him. He still got open. That's why he would make the clutch plays. Because the QB could depend on him to be at the exact spot he was supposed to be.

To me Pearson is #1 followed by Hayes. If they have to invent a new defense to stop you, you are special. Irvin would be 3rd.
Opposite. Irving was big and physical and would've owned anyone who was draped all over him. He was made for that type of play.

Irvin is arguably the best player the Cowboys ever had next to Emmitt. He consistently beat double coverage and was a locker room motivator. His skills with grooming shears is legendary in Cowboy history.

You can trace the downfall of the Cowboy dynasty to the day Irvin went down in Philly. Aikman and Emmitt could not win without him.

I'd take Drew over Irvin. If both played today, Irvin would be dead from fentanyl.

The ONLY reason Irvin is not considered the best WR of his era is because he played at the same time as the GOAT, Jerry Rice.

Irvin is top 10 all time.

I don't think we win a single Super Bowl in the 90's without him. He was much more than just a HOF WR. He was the heart and soul of a dynasty.
I think the biggest reason why we won the Super Bowls in the 90s was because of Mr. Charles Haley

And Tony Tolbert and Tony Casillas and James Washington and Jim Jeffcoat and Larry Allen. And.....etc.

Honestly, that team was just stacked. We won due to superior talent overall.

The hyperbole.

Irvin ranks all time 29th in receptions, 41st in yards, and 62nd in TDs, but he is top 10 all time.

Irvin is no where near a top 10 all time WR.

Irvin is top 10 all time.

I'd say one of the other reasons is he was part of a draft class (1988) with two other guys: Tim Brown, who had better stats (although over a much longer time), and Sterling Sharpe, who maybe was the brightest talent at the time they were all playing together -- although his career was cut short by a career ending neck injury.

I got to go with Irvin on that one. Then Drew. I would say Bryant is #2 on the list but Drew played in a different era where the defense wasn't so limited. But Dez is like #2(b). But I feel Drew was a better all around WR.

This is a hard distinction to make. We got Irvin, Pearson, Dez, Tony Hill and Bob Hayes. 3 of them are in the HOF already, Dez will be 4. My list is
1. Irvin
2. Pearson
3. Bryant
4. Hayes

But there is not a lot of wiggle room between the 4 and an argument can made for everyone on that list to be #1.
Got to watch each of them during their playing days.
