(Because Henson had been away)... from the game for 3 years, and after totally 19 starts since high school, don't you think that expectation is a little unreasonable considering the circumstances?
Actually no, considering the rave reviews he was getting from NFL scouts about where he would have been drafted had he not opted for baseball. If this was year one, I would agree that my expectation level would be unreasonable.
However Henson's been in the system going on three years. He came from a big time college program and played with a future Hall-of-Famer in Tom Brady. He played in two NFL games, starting one of those. He has played in or started several pre-season games and now he has some quality playing time in Europe under his belt.
If the guy's talent matches what was written about him by all the 'experts', he should be in prime position to seriously challenge a former Division II, UFA QB in Tony Romo for the backup QB job...at least by now. I contend that if he isn't #2 by the opener (and not due to injury to Bledsoe or Romo), to believe he is "the future" at QB would be naive.

think this offseason is where we should see Henson making strides up the depth chart, IMO, he beats out Romo this preseason
It's now or never. We all know Bledsoe is a stop gap QB, so we need to ascertain whether our future starter is on the roster right now. Is Romo the next Delhomme, or is he just a career backup? Is Henson really first round talent, or did Jerry get burned again trying to find another franchise QB on the cheap?
I'd be happy if just one of these guys pan out.
