Drew Henson Versus Jake Delhomme

Delhomme hasn't proved to me he can be a solid NFL QB... Throwing a quick WR screen and jump balls (baffling how they used those same 2 plays and Defensive coaches couldn't stop it) to Steve Smith, which was the majority fo their offense, doesn't show me he'd be a good NFL QB.

A Super Bowl appearance, two NFC title appearances, and a Pro Bowl birth tells ME, he's a pretty good QB.

If he was on the Lions he'd be battling with Garcia for a starting job right now.

I agree with that.

The only game I have seen that I truly felt he played well and led the team was his super bowl appearance.

Other than that he has had the virture of some of the best WR work in football and phenomonal line play.

To me, he is a very inaccurate QB. Good bus driver, but not a player i feel 'lead' his team to those playoff births.

His performance in the Super Bowl was unbelievable, but I remember in the game against us this year he made some just all around bad throws. Missed a lot of open receivers, and tended to look in Steve Smiths' direction the whole game. (Thats when we devised the scheme to stop the Panthers that Seattle used)

Um, you think 5' 10" Steve Smith won a lot of jump balls?

I define jump ball as deep pass thrown without any regard of defenders and allowing your receiver to make a play instead of putting some precision on the pass. (Look at all Steve Smith's highlights last year, either a WR screen to the house or a deep ball he adjusted to or just outran the DB)

Even with Garcia signing in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago? Wow that is impressive. Sign as a back-up for one team, and compete for a starting job on another.

I consider Delhomme a good steady QB with a decent arm who does not make a lot of mistakes and I think he fits in well for what Carolina is trying to do offensively. I don't consider him one of the elite QB's of the NFL but in my opinion he is clearly a guy who has done a good job leading his team. As for any comparsions with Henson I don't think any can be made at this point.

Well said. I don't think he is a poor QB by any means, but I don't think he is a Pro Bowl (regardless that he has made one) player. I put it the wrong way - if Henson could accomplish what Delhomme has accomplished, I would be thrilled.

My point is, I want a true franchise QB who can win me games on his arm alone.

Your only asking for the stars and the moon. :laugh2: I would love to have that type of QB as well but truth is looking around the NFL how many would fit that mold? I should also add those teams that are trying to win with the QB alone are not winning SB they are putting up great stats but that alone is not going to cut it.

You're crazy! If Henson turns out to be as good as Quincy Carter, the Boys should consider themselves lucky.

This is the guy who says he isnt a troll .....

We gave up a 3rd for Henson and used a 2nd for Carter I guess that would make Henson less of a bust. :laugh2:

So screens and wide open fade routes are "jump balls"?

Then what ISN'T a jump ball?

Not trolling. I called the poster crazy for expecting nothing less than a Delhomme-like career out of Henson.

If Henson leads the Cowboys to within 2 minutes of a Super Bowl victory, then I will apologize and admit that I was wrong.

I bet Henson gets the Cowboys closer to a Super Bowl victory than Campbell will the Rednecks.:starspin

So the two NFL Europe QB's who are rated better than Henson this year......what are they going to be?? Manning? Brady??
