Drool all you want, this RB is a master, tackle-breaking machine, with speed to take it to the house

A rare talent. He can transform the Cowboys offense single-handedly. Watch this video of him. Further into the video you will start seeing multiple plays where he is breaking tackles like crazy.

Draft him and create plays for him, like two pulling guards on a sweep. I remember defenders were in fear when Nate Newton and Larry Allen came out in front of Emmitt.

I am pretty sure he will not singlehandedly change the Cowboys offense.

His hype has reached ridiculous levels. I don't think he's as good a prospect as Gibbs or Robinson from the 2023 draft. He's good but I can't justify him at 12 unless our draft board is just absolutely wasted. I'd take a DT or high level DE over him every day of the week.

He isn't Emmitt with speed. You need to stop and think about what other things are wrong with the run game. Yeah they definitely need a new RB, no the solution is not to draft one as high as possible. Tell me, did Bijan help the Falcons out, are they in the playoffs now?

Did Emmitt lead the Cowboys to the playoffs when Aikman went down?

There’s 12-15 RB’s in this draft class that have extremely impressive highlight tapes breaking tons of tackles.

Don’t get me wrong, Jeanty is the clear cut #1 RB, I just don’t see him as an other worldly talent that can’t be passed on. The drop off in RB talent just isn’t large enough for me to consider Jeanty at 12.

Jimmy Johnson would not pass on Emmitt. This team cannot pass on Jeanty. Emmitt's greatness allowed Aikman not to need to throw so much.

I'd take prefer to take him in a small trade down...getting us back a 3rd or high 4th
However, I'm not sure he'll even be there at 12 so it might not matter.

Dallas needs playmakers on offense and he'd definitely be one.

If they don't end up taking him - 4th-5th rounds appears the sweet spot in this draft for RBs

I will say I only watched him once but you can definitely see him helping us get 7 instead of 3

Jeanty on this team all year their ppg goes up by 7 per

I think Jeanty comps really close to Bijan.

-Virtually identical in size
-Bijan ran 4.46 at 215 lbs... I bet Jeanty slots right in there.
-Both were tackle-breaking machines, at like a superpower level.
-Both could catch, but it wasn't really their calling card.

Was Bijan worth the #9 pick? Whether you say yes or no, you probably feel the same way about drafting Jeanty.

No No No

Rico just put up 1000 yards in like 2/3 of a season. Jeanty is a fine prospect but 12 is too rich for a RB
I like Rico. But the red zone scoring killed us

Mccarthy calling constant jump balls to short receivers in the red zone doesn’t help. But if you draft Jeanty, you hand that sucker off 3 times in a row inside the 5

Agreed but I also think there are pieces in place along the OL that should foster a decent enough run game. I like Beebe. I think Hoffman has shown himself to be a pretty decent interior player. Honestly, I'd love to see them find a quality vet OG, slide him in at LG, slide Tyler Smith out to LT and move Guyton to RT and send Steele packing, as he is one of the weak links on the OL IMO.

As Guyton gets his feet under him, you can eventually slide him back to LT if that's the goal, Tyler goes back inside to dominate and you find a new RT.

He is the 2nd best player in this draft class and if he fell, no chance the Cowboys would pass on the value. As a prospect, he belongs with a Robinson and is ahead of Gibbs, in my opinion.
He's not even a Top 5 player in this draft class. Carter, for example, is such a better prospect than Jeanty.

These kind of statements are a reach and here is why.

For one, the NFL in the late 80s, early 90s is much different than it was now. Running backs had more value back then. Secondly, the Cowboys were in the throws of having multiple high picks so they could afford to be more liberal in the draft with that pick. Remember, Emmitt was the 17th pick. They had already used the #1 pick to grab Walsh in the supplemental draft and then they still had the 26th pick (the 1st pick in the 2nd round) to grab another player.

This Cowboys team doesn't have the luxury. They have gaping holes at positions that in today's NFL have more value than a RB. Throw in the fact that this is a pretty good RB class, unless he's clearly the best player there at 12, this team would be wise to grab one of the top DTs or DEs, for example, at 12 than a TB.

But people like shiny objects and Jeanty is just that.

Bingo. It's easy to "see" a skill position player's contributions. More difficult to see that interior defender's contributions although they may exceed in reality.
