Drool all you want, this RB is a master, tackle-breaking machine, with speed to take it to the house

Preface this with I love Jeanty but after he takes it 80 yards to the house can we trot him out there, put him on the nose, and have him stuff the run?

He's not even a Top 5 player in this draft class. Carter, for example, is such a better prospect than Jeanty.
He certainly is, some might drop him a little due to him being a running back, but nobody disputes his talent.

I will say I only watched him once but you can definitely see him helping us get 7 instead of 3

Jeanty on this team all year their ppg goes up by 7 per
That's a wild statement. You think Derrick Henry would boost our ppg in 2024 7ppg higher? Stop it

Jimmy Johnson would not pass on Emmitt. This team cannot pass on Jeanty. Emmitt's greatness allowed Aikman not to need to throw so much.
Actually in that draft Jimmy wanted the LB that the Bengals took, and wanted the RB that the Jets took higher over Emmitt... we ended up with Emmitt because those two guys were gone.

Bingo. It's easy to "see" a skill position player's contributions. More difficult to see that interior defender's contributions although they may exceed in reality.
And note, we need an upgrade in talent at TB. I like Dowdle but he's more a backup type or split carries kind of guy. So I am not opposed to using one of our higher picks (2nd, 3rd rounds) on a TB to improve the roster. But I can't justify the 12th pick on a running back given the glaring holes along the DL, for example. Finding a stud DT at 12 has more value to this team IMO than finding your RB at 12.

Exactly. I’m pointing out you’re rhetorically asking why Bijan didn’t lead the Falcons to the playoffs knowing he played with crap at QB.
The team had talent on offense, but Penix isn't terrible either. Guess next year Bijan hits 2K and they go to superbowl, but no that won't happen.

But when he did….he was as accurate as any QB who has ever played the game. He was also one of the smartest QBs to ever play the game. There’s certainly not a QB on this roster who would have made any difference with Emmitt in the backfield.

I don’t want to take a rb at rd 1 either, but remembered what happened in that Lamb draft. Loaded receiver class that year, but they just couldn’t pass on the value. 49ers did pass on Lamb and still got Ayuik, but cannot see the Cowboys doing it, especially with him being a local kid

These are some lofty projections for a guy who racked up big numbers vs mostly Mountain West defenses ........ then goes for 3.5 YPC and fumbles twice in the biggest game of his career against a real defense. The Emmitt comparisons are laughably premature. Emmitt played against top tier defenses multiple times every year in college and played his best when the most was on the line. Anyone want to guess what Emmitt or Barry Sanders or even Saquan Barkley would do to Mountain West defenses when they were in college?

Drafting this kid #12 is stupid not only in terms of projecting his Mountain West numbers into the NFL but also in terms of cap value wasting a rookie contract on one of the least expensive positions to pay.

I am pretty sure he will not singlehandedly change the Cowboys offense.

His hype has reached ridiculous levels. I don't think he's as good a prospect as Gibbs or Robinson from the 2023 draft. He's good but I can't justify him at 12 unless our draft board is just absolutely wasted. I'd take a DT or high level DE over him every day of the week.
Exactly my thoughts! I don't see anything special. Reminds me the RB that came out of Bama that didn't even come close to the hype Trent Richardson.

A rare talent. He can transform the Cowboys offense single-handedly. Watch this video of him. Further into the video you will start seeing multiple plays where he is breaking tackles like crazy.

Draft him and create plays for him, like two pulling guards on a sweep. I remember defenders were in fear when Nate Newton and Larry Allen came out in front of Emmitt.

I'd love for us to draft him, if he falls to us at 12. That said, I also like Skatabo from Arizona State.

They destroyed the Steelers All-Pro LBers in Super Bowl 30. It was awesome. Both LBers careers were never the same after that.

I can tell you that I can't find a single Boise State O-lineman listed as an early draft prospect.

There might be one on some list of draft prospects but i haven't found him yet. I haven't found any yet no matter how low I look on these lists.

Isn't that odd?

This guy rushes for over 2600 yards in a single season......the 2nd most in college history.........got his first 1000 yards after five games......took six more games to get to 2000..........where are the obvious behemoths that cleared the way?

Jeanty will be taken long before the #12 pick.

I come back to Boise St and what kind of schedule did Jeanty face . I think in the playoff game against Penn St he barely topped a 100 yards . Of course Penn St probably keyed on him the entire game .

Lance & Wentz went to North Dakota St . Comparing Jeanty to Emmitt when Smith went to Florida and that meat grinder the SEC ….

My plan was to draft defense heavily in this draft when you have a defense that ranked 31 out of 32 teams in scoring meaning the Cowboys bled points week after week .

Now say round three if he’s available I want Sampson the RB from Tenn the SEC , speed can catch passes in the Pollard mode. Team Sampson up with Dowdle Re sign him . 2 headed running attack . Find a place for Leupke to also contribute .

Value is defined by production not by position. A running back that forces opposing defenses to keep seven in the box, and is a homerun threat, is every bit as valuable as a stud DT.

You could make the same argument with LT and Faulk as they played in lesser conferences too. I remind everyone, he put up close to 200 yards and 3 touchdowns against Oregon this year
