any of those that would have some advanced knowledge care to give your take? Thanks

I am confident that we will have one of the most dominant O lines in the league with either of these guys playing LG.

Although, I've always been a Leary fan so I wil be sad to see him go, which he probably will.

Yep, he was underrated by fans but he'll get a big deal. Some of it might be deferred due to questions on his knee, but he's going to get paid. I'm not sold on Collins...great potential but that's all it is right now.

I don't believe there would be much drop-off and I've always believed Leary was better, even when Leary lost his starting job to a rookie Collins. I saw Collins do some very impressive things as a rookie, and I expect him to be much improved in his 3rd year as a pro. Ideally we could find a way to have Leary and Collins on the field at the same time, but I'd be comfortable with Collins at LG and Cooper as interior depth. The real issue is what to do at RT.

Collins is a mediocre pass protector, and doesn't run block consistently well.

Better question is what is the drop off to Cooper. I want Collins moved out to RT and Free off this team

Who knows what the drop off is?

Collins played one season as a rookie and he played like a rookie though he did show glimpses of being the most talented player on our OL. Not every rookie walks in and is as effective as Martin. Collins can and will improve like most players and he has just as much upside as any OL on our team.

if we can get Cooper to sign a contract then i will be happy about our guard situation.Leary is not going to be here folks.

You guys won't even remember Leary in 2 years

No one gave a crap about Leary in 2015. It's easy to say our line "got better" when Collins was playing while our O-Line was still getting into the groove of things. Most of our O-line weren't playing like their usual selves the first few weeks of the season - blame that on how the offense has to train in the offseason. That's the NFL now.

Leary is a good guard surrounded by great offensive lineman. Let's relax.

Collins was better until he got hurt, now It's unknown...

I honestly dont think there will be much of a drop off from Leary to Collins. Our line was still great in 2015, WITHOUT Leary.

Perfect scenario is Leary stays and Collins goes to Right Tackle

Are you talking the 4-12 season...uuuhhhmm.....

Um, your point is trash.

"4-12" is not indicative of a single unit. We allowed McFadden to run for over 1,000 yards and he didn't get the bulk of the carries until week 6. They gave up 34 sacks last year, that's between 4 different QBs who couldn't recognize blitzes to save their lives.

I would say yeah, yeah they did quite well and they were ranked quite highly as well.

To be honest whoever plays that position is going to get the benefit of being sandwhiched between two of the best at their positions. Leary plays with more power, while Collins is the more athletic of the two that has a high ceiling. I dont think you would see a tremendous dropoff between the two and even if Collins is average he will still look like a pretty good player.

At this point Leary is the better of the two players, but is it worth it to spend 8+ million more a year for a player a bit better than the alternative? I would love to keep him, but I just dont think you can spend such a large chunk of your salary cap on the ol. When 3 of the 5 linemen are pro bowlers year in and year out you can still have an excellent line with the other two players being average.

Nonsense. Leary doesn't make mistakes. Collins makes tons of them.
