I'd rather sign Leary and Trade Collins and use that pick on right tackle...

That's what's going to be the frustrating part of this team, we got a solid left guard already...we are need of a major upgrade a right tackle, and I somehow I believe Free will be our RT next year.

Nonsense. Leary doesn't make mistakes. Collins makes tons of them.

Agreed, but Collins was also a rookie playing a new spot at OG.

I think an underrated aspect of Leary is the attitude and nastiness he brings to the line. We'll miss that.

any of those that would have some advanced knowledge care to give your take? Thanks
think you lose some power and nasty without leary but you gain athletic ability and flexibility to run more outside with collins.

With Collins in pass protection, the QB takes more hits.

You don't even rewatch games, do you? He does make mistakes. Saying he doesn't is blatantly false and I won't be surprised, once the grades come out, he's just above Free (Not saying much since Free had an awful year)

Collins graded out quite well in 2015 to how Leary did in 2014, and he was a rookie.

Again guys, stop exaggerating the kind of guard Leary is. He's good, Parnell was good, they aren't once in a generation talent.

Romo took plenty of hits in 2014, actually, our entire line was a bit overrated in pass protection.

Our issue against Giants and Commanders to start the season wasn't pass blocking, it was run blocking. Dak was sacked 4 times in the Commanders game due to them disguising their blitzes well, something that got Romo pretty good in 2014 as well.

Leary has hit his ceiling, Collins is just about to come into his own. Leary probably better this season, but Collins will be better in the long run.

I just wish he would stay, one of the few players I've always liked, but I would not blame for chasing a big deal. I think he's a top ten LG.

Is there any real reason for him to stay?

The Cowboys promoted Collins over Leary before Collins really even earned it. Clearly the Cowboy are enamored with Collins potential and Leary wlll be sent back to the bench when Collins is healthy.

Given all that AND the fact that there is no way for the Cowboys to pay Leary his market value in free agency -- he will leave and nobody will blame him.

Leary really improved during his time away. He played nastier and with a lot more strength. At this point in time Collins simply isn't as good a player as Leary particularly in pass blocking.

Collins will probably be a really good player but Leary is just superior right now. May never be better than Leary who played all-pro football in 2016.

And it gets worse without Leary.

You do know that it is possible for a player to improve as the seasons go on.

I place my money on Collins being the superior player entering his 3rd season in the league.

Leary's a great player, but Collins is plenty nasty too.

Leary certainly got better with more experience, as will Collins.

Collins was also a first round graded prospect, and one of the best OL in that draft, a true blue chip prospect. He has All-Pro, multiple Pro Bowl type potential.

By the middle of the season, we'll know we found our LG for the next 5-6 years.

I agree with every word you said, I just think it's a shame.

Leary was playing through an injury when they replaced him with Collins. Leary was really struggling at the time.
