And since the money is doubled, players are not going to turn it down.

PS players get half the NFL min, so it may even be more than doubled.

Yes I would imagine their reasons to stay with another team on the practice squads would need to be strong (wanting to play for certain coaches, believing they have a chance to make the full roster for the other team soon, etc)

Russel Maryland and maybe Ratliff were the last DTs I would even mention. This admin isn't serious about the trenches.

Another season where we don't value DT or LB and the same song and dance happens. Can't stop the run at all against competent offenses. Let the good DT we did have walk and go the cheap route and pick up this piece of scrap metal close before the season started. Great front office approach we have.

While Quinn did have his faults for sure, you can only do so much with the personnel. The middle of our defense has been very bad forever now. Show me any playoff loss we have and I will show you the interior of our defense getting bullied and worn down as the game goes along. Long, sustained drives that even if they don't result in 7, they shorten the game. This was what the SF playoff loss was a few years ago. Sure, defense didn't give up a ton of points but they did get absolutely dominated up front in the 2nd half and stood no chance.

It's going to be a long season with this defense. Saints game was just the start. There is no way to improve and get better with the personnel we have. And just wait until injuries start to happen as they inevitably do.

I didn't say he would fix it. It just needs to be better than this week. Hopefully, the organization will find a way to bring in better talent. Not sure who that would be but if we have a similar showing this week, his days will be numbered just like McCarthy.
You aren't bringing in better talent in September outside of a trade. The only guys available are practice squad guys who aren't good enough to make a roster or guys on the street.

The time to have gotten better was through the draft and free agency. Too late now.
