Yup, if he doesn't make the pro bowl year 1 he's a bust. Lol

But seriously it takes even the great ones a couple years at DT to find their way. ....not like a DE or LB which can be a bit quicker transition
Yep ... some fans literally will... they wan (demand) t All pro, Day 1 with their 1st rd picks.

but I'm not worry about those type fans ... I'll only worry if the coaches seem so worried and discouraged that they have Mazzi inactive gameday most of the season that is not
injury related. .

That wasn't even Bohanna.

Check out Mazi Smith's athletical numbers and comparisons to other players. Absolute freak! (Picture below is thanks to Bleacher Report)

Can't wait to see Mazi Smith!

really hope the freak on paper brings it to the field, would create a monstrous defense adding him with the rest of the pieces here

No, this is what you said:

Don’t jinx anything. How many times have there been “combine beasts” that looked less beasty on the field? Ask Eagles fans about Mike Mamula, lol. Or “44 rep” Broderick Bunkley.
In other words, exercise caution. Is it really that difficult to understand?

I hope it all translates to a freak DT.

all these are good signs. but how does it translate to football skills? can he get off the blocks? can he use his hands to get separation? does he have a spin move? can he penetrate the gaps?
we need football Player Mazi, not Olympic athlete Mazi.
Yep this. I sure didn’t see that freak show up on his collage tape. Maybe they didn’t unleash it at UM or whatever but he definitely looked slow off the snap to me. I hope that’s not the case in the pros and his athleticism plus Dan Quinn make him a monster.

The league is full of athletic freaks. I only seen one Michigan game against TCU and Steve Avila basically dominated him.
As long as Mazi can be an immovable force in the middle of that defensive line and help keep the LBs clean it will be a great pick.

I posted this during the draft...From Bruce Feldman's Freaks list.

Note: 323 at the combine.

Side note: 31 reps for Tyron pre-NFL with 36-3/8" arms. He played at 290-ish in college and went all in to gain weight for the combine and weighed in at 307. He has gotten drastically bigger in the NFL. I've heard that he has benched over 600 which with 36-3/8" arms is getting close to the freakishness of LA doing 700 with 33" arms...

Another good one was that action figure looking Defensive end from Baylor a few years back (Shawn Oakman). Had a down year in 2015 and was still projected to be a fringe 1st rounder just on athletic ability alone. He's currently in the CFL and I far as I know never had an NFL team reach out for a tryout even with his name getting cleared in regards to the legal charges he had

Good to be encouraged. Optimistic.

- I think we have foundation and impact helping hand that should help big time (ala Gilmore, top safeties, development of S. Williams)
I really think having massive big boys in Hankins and rookie Mazzi will help us be much more " physical " at the point of attack.
Mazzi's development will mean quite a lot - as a duo tandem and backup to Hankins.

- I do worry about the youth and inexperience of our LBs.

- No huddles and misdirection plays remain achilles vs our defense
I think we’ll see Dan Quinn run the table on opponents this year. Defense is ready.

That is a pretty common junior high approach alright...the NFL is about a team directed by aggressive nature. Oh yea, wait on it...alright.

Miami had a no-name defense...aggressive.

New Orleans had an undersized linebacker, Vilma who spear headed a top shelf and aggressive defense. Who dat? We dat!
They were aggressive and came ready to start from opening whistle through the playoffs!

NFC Championship Game
Minnesota 28
New Orleans 31

Two number one seeds matched up in the Super Bowl.
New Orleans vs Indianapolis and Peyton Manning. But Brees spread the ball all over the field!

Two late game interceptions via consecutive NFC Championship and Super Bowl games for Who Dat!

Why did he last so long.
He’s a run stuffing defensive tackle. They typically don’t go high and probably the only reason Mazi did was because of his measurables. But he did what Michigan asked of him just like Schoonmaker did and their stats suffered for it but the Cowboys are trusting their eyes and scouts on these two picks.
