LOL at Jernigan being unable to play a 3-technique. He's going to be an all pro caliber DT and yeah, he can clog the middle. But he can get after the QB too.
I'll bet you a like that Jernigan is not there at 26.
If that's too rich for you blood I would completely understand.
I think his value would be around 18-20.
Broaddus is a blessing and a curse. On one hand, we get awesome access to a Cowboys 'insider' on Twitter and get some really good insights.
On the other, he is the only 'insider' we have access to--so he's become the only opinion that some seek, though his opinions are 100% his own. As a result, some players have become afterthoughts among fans merely because Broaddus doesn't believe they fit.
Jernigan is one of the those guys that Broaddus will not budge on--that's he's a 1 and the Cowboys won't use a first on him. However, this is HIS opinion and fans need to be open to the possibility that he's wrong.
I can find highlights of a 7th round player and you would say take him at 16. They are called highlights for a reason.

I would but every now and again he will tweet he walks by the scouts in the hallway every day and they do not speak to him. However when he says things in an adamant way and makes it clear that it is what he has heard from the coaches or scouts...I put more stock in it.

When he is adamant about something...I listen. I am pretty sure he heard something to be that adamant about it and not a case of walking by the room and them not talking to him.
I will also say that there has been times where he has been at pro days and have talked to scouts at that time as well. I remember that happening with the Alabama pro day last year.
That is true, and kind of proves my point (though I didn't make it well). What I am saying is that, while Broaddus does have inside info/whispers, some fans confuse these as gospel directly from the coaches and completely write guys off. We need to exercise caution in subscribing to his info because, as with all draft fans, coaches and scouts do a lot of flip flopping. Their opinions can be fluid, just like ours. I wouldn't dismiss a player because Broaddus said the team said something about them 2 months ago.
His drastic change of opinion in Ealy, for example.
So what I am saying is that, the team may view Jernigan as a 1...but like him enough to use a first on him. And Broaddus may not know the second part of that until closer to the draft. So we still need to consider all options despite what Broaddus has said in the past.
A 1 tech who can get qb pressure? Sign me up. 1st round grade. Hayden needs to go and McClain is not going to be disruptive enough.
How do you know? There are some that really like his potential, and have called him exactly what you've dubbed Jernigan... an athletic 1T who can generate some pressure.
Agree with Hayden though. He's a JAG.
