Considering the fact that the Cowboys got Deuce for a 6th round pick, he might surely be considered the steal of the decade. His excellent college record announces that promise clearly enough to make most NFL teams glad to welcome him with open arms. Deuce owns very rare RB talent, aside from his diminutive size. Those even vaguely familiar with him are quite aware of his abilities.
Geese, our vocal experts are screaming to tapping the breaks about getting excited on a talented player at the start of his first season.

Bob Hayes wasn't even a football player and ended up Hall of Fame. He had potential.

I tell you what, I'll send up flares when it's safe to sneak out of the bomb shelters!:muttley:

I love the optimism but can we let him play in a few real games first? He is pretty small, might not make it through season one in his career. I don’t think het gets as many touches as some think in 2023.
You're probably right...it'll take him some time to figure out how to both chew gum and walk down the street, both.

For sure, run to Vegas and take the odds and win a fortune...

"Steal of the decade"

Justin Jefferson? In the 20's
Patrick Mahomes? What...drafted with the 10th puck or something?
Micah Parsons?
TJ Watt?
Jalen Hurts ?
Brock Purdy? Last pick in draft? Got his team to NFC CG?

LOL

Problem with Vaughn is, he doesn't just look small height wise, but also frame wise.

My opinion on him hasn't changed since we drafted him. He's going to have to do the most with very limited touches.

It's early in Deuce Vaughn's career to be as confident as most of us are, but Vaugh's promise seems well worth believing in. I'm wishing him the best of good fortune and am looking forward to seeing him perform at his best. The chances for injury are always real but he seems to be built well for his size. It's fair to say his skills are far above the average RB and even special, regardless of what the best ones have to offer. He'll earn his keep, imho.

He definitely has Sproles-like capabilities, but he is an absolute liability as a blocker or in blitz pickups. And with Pollard coming off a playoff injury, I have huge concerns about RB depth on this team. Those two and Dowdle will not be enough over a long season. They should've made a harder run at Jonathan Taylor.
I don't think it's as much about pass blocking for Deuce as it is about how well he runs screens to counter the pass rush. That is one of his strong points. He's a good back between the tackles. But what I think people discount is his ability in the passing game, especially the short passing game.

If the line plays well AND Duce has the heart, vision, durability like Emmitt had, he may turn out very good. As much as people credited the line, ES has AMAZING vision, balance, shiftiness and elusiveness (not Barry sanders level, but still very good) which made him hard to hit which is a big reason he was durable. His short height worked to his advantage behind that line…..Duce may be able to take advantage of that too.
The Cowboys never really won without Emmitt. Emmitt is the same type of back; he was a mere 3 inches or so taller. But having to cover a short, shifty back is tough on a defense.. especially in a secondary, you go from covering a guy much taller, then to have to contain a short, shifty back.. It can be a nightmare. That was part of the formula for success the Cowboys had in the 1990s.

His size is a huge advantage. Not a disadvantage.
