I get that, and you might be right. And I agree to a certain extent.
But, just because there aren't many players actually in the draft that are ranked between the two, doesn't mean there isn't a vast divide in skill level between them. It just means that, like most people believe, the draft really drops off after the top-10.
Horn is a high teens to low 20s guy, in my opinion. Two things boosted his stock:
Farley's surgery and his 40 time. Not his play. Not his tape.
I'm very weary of a guy jumping way up boards because the next guy at his position had surgery. That's a huge red flag to me. We're all used to players getting bumped by their 40s, so I don't need to address that.
Whats really crazy is just about everyones knock on Surtain was that he'd run poorly. He went out and put up a time that's plenty fast. So, instead of at that point just saying, "damn, this is the dude..." they started looking new ways/reasons to discredit him. Like saying he's "overhyped because he played at Bama."
Like professional scouts just ignore tape because of the school. Like any professional scout sat down at their desk and said, "welp, don't need to review this guy's film cause he played at Bama."
Like couch scouts just ignore tape because of his school. Like anyone on this forum, as peculiar and particular as they are, decided to just give the guy a top-10 grade because he went to Bama.
Give me a break.
