I feel like you're still trying to get out of your blown evaluation on Dunbar in a previous thread. Still think scatbacks are easy to find?

That's what's going on. The narrative used to be that the guy couldn't play. Then you point out the multiple long plays he had in limited reps and it's ignored. Then there was the lamenting about him being overrated, which was really just the inverse of people sticking up for the guy specifically because he was being overlooked. Then last year came, and he went on an 85 catch/season rate--which is really good for a LB--and was our early season playmaker when Tony and Dez went down, and...pop. Another knee injury.

The injuries are a significant and obvious concern with this guy. Otherwise, he's exactly the kind of guy you want to have on the team taking up half a WR and half a RB spot. He's a solid player who can give you big plays when you're better players are drawing too much attention. He's an outlet for Tony, too. I was really looking forward to seeing those two play together with Dunbar's increased role before disaster struck, twice. Blarg.

I'm sorry, I must have missed where this became a golden rule and "simple fact" that teams must abide by. There are different ways to construct a game day roster.

Find me a "scatback" who only functions in that role and does nothing on special teams.

I will wait.

You clearly do not understand how rosters are constructed. If you have a back that is your "third string back", they better be contributing on special teams. It is a simple fact.

So do you even think before posting?

Don't answer. Just refer back to something that does not even come close to applying here.

I recommend a "Homer Zone" where people like you can frolic and avoid discussing topics that might be over your head or a little disturbing.

Haha, oh is that it? They MUST contribute on special teams? Let's ignore the fact ONCE AGAIN, that scat backs ARE NOT a dime a dozen in this league. I'm sure Patriots are just itching to release Dion Lewis due to his lack of ST play and his injury, along with off the field issues.

But yes, let's go by your made up rule that all teams go by. Let's also pretend you actually give a **** or not that he performs on special teams.

Lol, this is a logical fallacy. Just because there isn't (and im not even going to bother looking) doesn't mean he doesn't serve a good purpose on this team & isn't a worth a spot on 53 roster

So, you have nothing. Okay.

It works both ways.

I like a lot of our players..Romo, Dez, Witten, Beasley, Sean Lee, Rolando, Lawrence, Gregory, Byron, Scandrick, The O Line. The difference I don't automatically like them because they are wearing the Star.

One thing everyone needs to remember .. One of the reasons teams sign players to one-year contracts is because they can act as insurance policies. It's very plausible for example that Dunbar is not on the roster once the season starts if the Cowboys draft one or more running backs who make the roster. Right now, they've secured a contingency option if the draft does not go well for them running back wise or the running back(s) they draft do not make the active roster. It's not like they gave him a 3-year/$9-million contract which would hurt the cap if they released him. I know people are upset we didn't break the bank on 2-3 players, but these kinds of free agent signings are important in their own ways if things don't pan out with the draft or players get hurt during pre-season.

But do you dislike a lot of them because they wear the Star? That's really the point.
I dislike a lot of our players: Hayden, McFadden, Wilcox, Street, R McClain, T McClain, Mincey, Weeden, Michael, Wilbur. The Star really has nothing to do with it. Either guys try hard and can play, or they can't. Dunbar's a pretty good player for what he is.

Uh..Lance Dunbar. Averaged 24.3 yards returning kickoffs last year before he was hurt. Also returned a punt, and played on punt coverage team. I guess that doesn't count?

He's crying about me not wanting Lance Dunbar to return kicks/punts anymore.

Either way, Lewis with the Pats is pretty much a non-factor in the return game. We don't NEED Dunbar to be returning kicks/punts, he's already useful enough as our receiving back to justify a spot on the team.

Why do you assume others do? Dunbar was making great plays before getting injured.

Right.. I like the Hanna signing. I also hope we sign Crawford..guys who stay healthy. Dunbar can't stay healthy and I believe Whitehead can take over his role.

I like Dunbar. I think he's a good niche player, which is exactly what we're paying him to be. If we were paying him to be the starter or the backup who can take over for the starter, I'd have a problem with it.

I don't automatically dislike anyone on this team, they've earned their dislike (in my opinion, which is all everyone has here). Dunbar is a mediocre NFL player and this franchise continues to reward mediocrity. This franchise will start consistently improving when they stop being content with average or below players.

One last point: It's not like we rushed out and gave Dunbar some big contract. We let him test FA, two teams let him walk out without a contract. We scooped him back up on a one year deal.

There is no reason to complain about this. This isn't going to stop us from looking at RBs, this doesn't even mean he'll stay on the roster.
