Really like the pick but I think folks need to tap the breaks just a little bit in putting him in the slot already and dumping Roy Williams.

Harris is extreeeeeeemly raw as a receiver and will need some major seasoning and instruction on route running. The vast majority of his catches were on underneath routes, bubble screens or dump slants. This labor situation only hampers that.

Good morning from Greenville NC. I've had the distinct pleasure watching Dwayne Harris play at ECU for the last four years. You drafted a a young man with alot character and the heart of a warrior. Dwayne will give you 110% on every play he's a student of the game. He's got great hands, balance, and vision. He's a physical player who is strong as an ox.

Off the field Dwayne is a humble young man who does all the right things. He worked his tail off graduating last in Fall of 2010.

Here is some video of him in action he wears # 17.

Question for Bluewaterpirate or other folks:

Has Harris ever run down and tackled on special teams in college or HS even?

The vaunted Dallas press forgot to ask him yesterday.

So we don't know if he's just a return man on STs, or hopefully can play some coverage teams like Hurd did.

I'm assuming Garrett et all have looked into this and chose him based on the role they plan to use him in.

I can't remember him on any coverage teams the last three years. No coach in their right mind would have taken that risk. He meant too much to the offense and return game to put him in on coverage teams.

The thing you will notice about DH is that he rarely goes down on first contact. If you watch Bluewaterpirate's vids, you will see that is not just against CUSA teams. Those highlights are also against VT, WVU, NC State and UNC. ECU doesn't play a pansy out of conference schedule, so DH has played well against AQ competition.

If DH doesn't make an impact, it won't be due to attitude or a lack of work ethic.

I really like this pick.He looks like he will do the dirty work and get you tough yards. It wouldn't surprise me if he moves to no 4 on our depth chart(assuming they cut Hurd).

I'll inject this and apologize if someone else has done so already.

Jason Garrett persuaded Jimmy Robinson to leave his Super Bowl winning wide receiver squad for Dallas. Any prospect worth drafting will have gotten some input from him as well. That should count as somewhat of a positive for Harris' selection.

Very good point.

I saw Harris against UVA and VA Tech, and he singlehandedly tore both teams up.

Great videos! Wow I'm really anxious to see if he can transition that kind of play into the NFL.

As you know Dwayne played QB in HS ..... that makes him dangerous. ECU used him in the wildcat and on reverses where he would throw the ball. The kid has a cannon for an arm. Had three career TD's at ECU.

Vintage Harris running from the wildcat formation.

I like that he fakes with his hips before the shoulders and then can reverse on it. It totally sells the move to the defender and flat foots him.

I know the hair, but this guy seems like a young Marion Barber as a WR. Maybe just a little faster. Doesn't mind contact. Gets extra yards. He might not last forever, but I'll take boatloads of picks like that. It is ashamed Marion is going out like this, but he was really good his first few years.

Awesome thanks Bluewater, with your vid to boot - yeah he can stick his head in and tackle it looks like. That's a start, at least he's done it. Whether he can do it on this level, ? .. Tackling and blocking, holding your lane on STs means a lot. On the other hand, whether a guy like Harris can actually return punts and kickoffs so well to justify his roster spot will be hard. Most all rooks are kinda "meh" on this point - hard to make the team just on return potential - see Tyson Thompson etc.

With all respect to Sam Hurd, the team was dragging and kicking not to sign him for the minimum $2 mil, except that special teams looked pretty bad last preseason, especially with who we decided to keep. (I can't remember who we dropped that was/were good on STs, except that the rooks Church McCray, and B.Williams and even J. Williams weren't so great on ST. ...)

Give it up for the young bloods. They haven't proven what they suck at yet.

I think Harris has a great chance to earn playing time. He is a very good slot WR who runs precise routs and has good hand. Granted not much in terms of speed but he is a guy who knows how to get open and make yards after the catch.
