vs maryland in bowl game 2010
That was a nightmare game for ECU. And Harris had a lot of catches but really it was a bad game for him too.

The team was flat, bad matchup (even though Md is not that great), and ECU really should not have been in a bowl--rebuilding after losing Skip Holz to USF.

umm...yes, he is. Did you watch his clips? Hurd never looked slow to me.
You don't think Harris is quick? Or you talking top end speed--whcih is not his strngth. His speed is average for an NFL slot receiver 4.5. It's the quickness that is key inside as they can get some tight intitial coverage.

Anyway, he was 6th rounder.

Yeah, Hurd is a 4.63 guy and Harris 4.53. He kind reminds me of Derrick Mason. I hope anyway.

He's not explosive, which is not to be confused with quick. His 10-yard dash is below average for the position and his broad jump (which is as basic a test for explosiveness outside of vertical jump) was the worst of all the receivers at the combine. Practically every scouting report I've read on the kid says as much too. Most of all, you can see it when he plays.

I liked him at East Carolina, where he was basically the entire offense over there. I actually think he needs to lose some weight, maybe up to 10 lbs to gain some of that quickness back. If you look at his Fresh/Soph years, he was a little thinner and a lot more quicker/faster/explosive all together.

He's got huge hands (10 1/8"), which are abnormal for a guy his size (5' 10"). He caught a ton of balls at East Carolina, but a large portion of those were simple bubble screens and quick slants. I'm guessing he's going to have to learn the nuances of NFL route running like most.

Good pick in the 6th round.

he reminds me of the chiefs McCluster...they both ran 4.53 at the combine but harris is bigger and stronger almost like a percy harvin.
He has running back size almost he is 5'10 and weigh 205lbs....if he lose 10lbs he would be better prolly.

McCluster though is more like a jitterbug athlete. That's why I said Mason, more of a good speed guy who runs good routes and is tough catching over the middle with big hands.

He reminds ms more of a poor man's Jerrell Jernigan.

Senior Bowl
Holding Steady

WR Dwayne Harris, East Carolina: Harris entered this game as an “athlete,” playing receiver. He has more of a running back build and he lacked the acceleration to drive defenders off their back-pedal. He responded to coaching, but only with incremental improvement. He’s an intriguing athlete with some ball skills, but a team will need to be patient with his development to maximize their return on investment.

Very good pick... I like guys who are former QB's at WR.

.....does this guy compare favorably to former Cowboys WR Kelvin Martin?

Guy is built like Devin Hester, without Hester's blazing speed. He plays with an attitude and doesn't go down on first contact.

Was not thrilled with this pick at first but the more I watch of him the better he becomes. Has absolute huge hands and some good moves. Not the fastest but put him in the slot and he could be alot to handle for lb's.Look at his clips from 2008...seems leaner and faster there. Good pickup.

Good morning from Greenville NC. I've had the distinct pleasure watching Dwayne Harris play at ECU for the last four years. You drafted a a young man with alot character and the heart of a warrior. Dwayne will give you 110% on every play he's a student of the game. He's got great hands, balance, and vision. He's a physical player who is strong as an ox.

Off the field Dwayne is a humble young man who does all the right things. He worked his tail off graduating last in Fall of 2010.

Here is some video of him in action he wears # 17.
