Where do you see him fitting in with this team? I obviously had high hopes for him. But nothing really stuck out this year. Anyone have any insight on Harris you'd like to share?

He's still a young player, but he'll have some competition this year though, with Radway coming back as well as Holmes whom the Cowboys are very high on.

I agree. We have so much talent. He could be edged out. We'll see. It'll be interesting though.

I think he was a wasted pick and I will be surprised if he makes the roster next year

Given all the talent we've acquired through means other than the draft, I tend to agree. He's not wasted because he doesn't have potential, per se. But mostly because he won't find himself in a position to get enough reps unless there are a lot of injuries.

Who knows? He could be next year's camp surprise though. How that translates into the regular season and how he fits into the team is another story.

I'll be interested in seeing how he does with an actually off season under his belt. I think he has to show his return ability that he showed in college to have a real shot at making the roster. Bit early to give up on him or any of the rookies from this past season.

I was looking at our roster on dallascowboys.com, and I didn't realize that Holmes is 6' 5".

I know we like tall receivers, but he's got to be one of the tallest wideouts in Cowboys history! I'm interested in watching him, Radway, and Harris this pre-season. Should make for a good roster battle.

And I'm really glad we have Robinson coaching them up.

I think he has to gain weight and get a little faster, too. I'd like to see him work on his vert as well as his quickness. That can be done with a lot of hard work. IMO, he has to work hard this offseason or it just won't happen. We're stacked with WRs and our camp is going to be tough.

It would be great to see Rad pick up where he left off before the injury

They way I see it we have 3 WR and some maybe's. Ogletree I think is out. Radway did some good things in pre season but just like Holmes he is unproven.

I see Harris having a chance to develop into a slot WR, he is not going to get any taller and while I'm sure he can bulk up some quickess more than speed is what you need at the slot.

In the meantime we are talking guys who will fill out the WR core and normally that means you better have some skills at special teams.

Harris is going to have to show the ability to consistently get open quickly a la Wes Welker. I think he has the physical tools to do so, but that would have to be his role on the team.

It would be nice if he could do that, because the offense needs a guy like that imio.

I agree. If Robinson is re-signed then we definitely have 3 WR set in stone. I believe the Cowboys will only carry 5 WR's on the roster so it will be a great battle to see who will snag those last two spots.

Harris, Holley, Holmes, Ogletree, Radway, and T. Williams will all be in a dogfight to see who will be a part of next years team.

Yep and I think some of it comes down to what you bring on special teams. I think Holley made the team in large part because of his special team as did Hurd when he was here. Chances are none will be star players but to make an NFL roster you need to bring something to the table often times that is special teams

True, but Ogletree has been on the roster for a couple of years now, and he brings nothing to special teams. Also, Radway was going to make the roster last year until that freakish injury. I think Holley benefited from Radways injury, which is how he made the roster.

Yes but they tried to Ogletree to do special teams did not fare well and his play took a dip this year so I would expect he will be gone.

Radway did see action in pre season on special teams with 4 kickoff returns including a 40 yarder

And while the injury may have benifited Holley he was still on special teams.

It is hard to keep a back up on the bench doing nothing. It would be one thing is they looked at a young kid as a potential star but right now these guys are not

That is why guys like Hurd stayed as long as he did or guys like Kelvin Martin when he was here.

Yeah that's true. I believe Ogletree is gone as well, he doesn't bring anything to this team. One of these guys needs to breakout as a decent return man on either punts or kickoffs.

I agree. Clearly they need to show something as WR but when trying to make a roster in their situations you better be able to bring something to the table.

For all of Holley weakness I will say I admire his heart, he went out and played very good special teams and when he got a chance to play he went out and made some plays. I would not discount him just yet

That's why I would like for one of these guys to show something on returns as well as being a cover man. And yes, Holley does have a lot of heart, but his upside is just not very high. He's the oldest WR on the roster at 28, and I would like to see some of the younger guys with more upside on the roster.

The best man will win though, and whoever ends up on the roster, they will have earned it, barring any major injuries.

He's just a 6th round draft pick. He looked slow as a returner. Nothing more than an emergency reserve at WR.

Honestly he's probably 50/50 to even make the team this season.
