I think this drops him out of the first round. Dallas won't take him at 22.

According to the GBN report

March 28
(5:00 PM): Jarrett records average time… USC WR Dwayne Jarrett ran his 40s in 4.67 and 4.62 seconds, the short shuttle in 4.20 and the three-cone drill in 7.28. He also had a 36½-inch vertical and a 10-foot-1 broad jump. Jarrett weighed in at 214 lbs. so that 40 time would have to be considered rather average. Those comparisons to former Trojan and current Lions WR Mike Williams will continue to haunt Jarrett as he might have some trouble separating from pro corners. His production doesn't lie though and a team looking for a big possession receiver who can find the endzone will find Jarrett tough to overlook ... Cincinnati CB John Bowie blazed to 40 times of 4.37 and 4.39 at his Pro Day workout. That should grab some team's attention. His teammate, TE Brent Celek, ran a top 40 of 4.79 at 255 lbs. Celek has special teamer written all over him ... Wyoming S John Wendling had a great workout. At 222 lbs, Wendling ran both of his 40s in 4.48 seconds. He also had a 36½-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-4 broad jump. Those numbers are sure to impress. Teammate Chase Johnson, a huge 6-8 328 lb. OT, ran a 5.41 40 and did 14 reps on the bench ... 25 NFL teams were represented at South Carolina's Pro Day, with all eyes looking straight at WR Sidney Rice's workout. Scouts said the conditions were ideal but Rice's agent didn't seem to think so and told Rice not to run. He did do the position drills but not running those 40s is sure not to impress the NFL honchos.

it might not drop him out of round one, probably insures he wont be the 2nd WR picked, but he might go late 1st

he's still a good WR that makes plays...alot of you people get way to hung up on 40 times and workout nunbers....it all matters, but the real tale is in the game tape

Forget workout numbers. This is all you need to know:

2004 - 55 receptions, 849 yards, 15.4 Avg, 13 TD
2005 - 91 receptions, 1274 yards, 14.0 Avg, 16 TD
2006 - 70 receptions, 1015 yards, 14.5 Avg, 12 TD

compared to Ted Ginn:

2004 - 25 receptions, 359 yards, 14.4 Avg, 2 TD
2005 - 51 receptions, 803 yards, 15.7 Avg, 4 TD
2006 - 59 receptions, 781 yards, 13.2 Avg, 9 TD

Its actually better then expected. There were rumors he'd run 4.7-4.8 range

At least that is better.

Colston ran a 4.6 and did pretty well last season
Fitzgerald ran a 4.6
So did Jerry Rice.

Just saying 40 is misleading for wr's most of the time

Fitzgerald ran a 4.54.

Anquan Boldin ran a 4.72 and I've seen him running away from quite a few NFL CB's.

True and the times he has posted have varied, I have seen 40 times in the 4.5 range.

Colston ran a 4.51 at the combine.(Pro Day numbers are usually better times than those at the combine) Last year Gil Brandt said that the Cowboys timed Jerry Rice at 4.40

Deangelo Hall is or amonhst the fastest guys in the NFL... would you take him if you had the chance?

40 times are overrated people... as long as a guy isnt running a 6 in the 40 who cares.

We aren't talking about Anquan Boldin or Jerry Rice, either, but somehow their 40 times translate to Jarrett.

He could go either way. He was productive in college, he came up big in some big time games against big time talent (didn't he destroy Leon Hall?) and he doesn't have the year out of college and weight concerns that Mike Williams had. That doesn't guarantee he'll be a game breaker any more than playing at USC guarantees he'll be like Mike Williams.

The guy's got everyone doubting him. That's excellent motivation. I don't think he'll be elite, but he'll probably end up as a servicable WR for someone - which is certainly more than Mike Williams can say.

I've read that Boldin was running on a bad knee. He's actually a 4.4 guy.

I did not compare him to anyone ..... I am comparing him to Dwayne Jarrett ... who has been great up till now ....

Of course he could be a bust ..... there are no sure things in the draft .... but I hear everyday someone comparing the kid to Mike Williams .... and thats just not fair.

If Jarret played for any team BUT USC we wouldn't hear the comparisons.

If I'm not mistaken Michael Irvin ran between a 4.6 and a 4.7 and Keyshawn Johnson has never been a speedster himself.

Frankly it doesn't concern me much.

If he fell to the second and dallas took him that would be a steal and a half however!
