Jarrett is a solid pro prospect more on the lines of a Keyshawn Johnson, which isn't a bad thing. Wasn't Keyshawn the first pick of the draft??

Jarrett will be a solid pro I'm guessing, he played pretty well in big time games so that has to count for something.

He doesn't remind me of Michael Irvin at all. Michael Irvin was a Cowboy and Jarrett never will be.

From recent history it seems that WR is perhaps the most "bust-prone" position when drafting in the first round. Michael Westbrook looked like he could "play the game" too.

You're right, not everyone needs to be a burner. But if I'm taking a guy #22 I want a guy that can be my #1. This guy isn't fast enough IMO to be a #1.

I would rather take a guy like Jarrett than guys like Rice, Meachem, or Ginn.

Why?

Jarrett produced....big....

Now, Rice, Meachem, and Ginn definitely have more potential and more athletic ability....But they're raw. They're not polished. Rice probably has more polish than Meachem and Ginn because he had two great seasons.

And, I don't see why we can't compare Michael Irvin and Jarrett. Both are bigger receivers that played on powerhouse teams in college. Neither are burners.

We compare players all the time. What's wrong with it?

Jarrett's bust possibility is through the roof. The odds of the 6'4" 220 lbs. 4.7 guy not being the next Mike Williams/JJ Stokes/David Terrell/Billy McMullen/Reggie Williams/Rod Gardener/Marquis Walker/Ron Johnson are not good. That's his floor. I don't necessarily mind a boom/bust guy with the first pick as long as you think he's got the cabability of being a special palyer. What's his ceiling? I don't see him topping out as anything more than a #2 Keyshawn Johnson possession WR. That's much reward for that much risk.

Mike Mayock on NFL network showed a lot of tape on Jarrett and according to him the speed issue will hurt him because he has trouble with press coverage, even at the college level. Jarrett was a playmaker when people played off him and gave him room to run his routes, but on several clips Mayock showed plays where the corner got up in his face and Jarrett could not seperate from the corner and his routes were completely disrupted.

I like Jarrett and thought he was a stud in college, but I don't think he will be a game breaker in the pros. I don't think he will be a bust like Williams because he seems to have a better work ethic.

I picture him more like Keyshawn, not that there's anything wrong with that.

I agree with the Key comparison. And, who wouldn't take that? All teams could use a Keyshawn type talent.

And scouts screw up all the time. Mayock is good at evaluating.....but evaluating for the draft is not an exact science.

Because he is the Playmaker.

Some get offended when unproven guys are compared to the greats, especially those who have done wonders and accomplished so much with the team they love.

Funny you'd mention Billy McMullen, I just talked to him the other day, he doesn't like Minnesota...

I don't know....What's the difference between a 4.4 and a 4.6 on the field?

One or two steps?

Two steps in the NFL is the difference between covered and wide open.

This is true.

I would rather see rookies run their 40 times in pads though.

The bigger stronger WRs might be able to keep their 40 time more consistent with or without pads and the smaller WRs might slow down with the weight of the helmet and pads.

Or do you think I am just making things up?

Just a thought.

There's a lot of "man-love" going on here For Jarret...

There is always a new man crush here and there.

I have zero man love for Jarret, he played for one of my rivals [New Brunswick] in High School.

I ended up covering him when he lined up wide right.

Don't be jealous ;)

I graduated HS in 2002. He was just a sophomore I believe.

He really made a jump the following year... they torched my HS 60-0.

And we were back to back State Champs, just to give you an idea how much they improved, and how good my senior class was ;)

I've heard this before.

And you have a point.

But, when a receiver is as big as Jarrett, if he has a guy on his hip, he's wide open.

That's why when guys like Antonio Gates are locked up on CBs, it's considered a mismatch. That's why Keyshawn and Irvin had so many catches and TDs.

Actually, I don't really think Jarrett's the bee's knees. I don't care if we draft him or not. I'd rather have him than a lot of other WRs, but I can name about 10 other guys I'd like to see us draft at 22 (that will realistically be there)

I have more of a beef with people putting all sorts of stock into forty times. People act like 4.3= probowl sometimes.

I've seen man crushes on guys like Ginn and Houston (players with good-not great college careers) because of their workout numbers.

So, if you want to say I have a "man-love" for Jarrett, that's fine. Whatever seems to make your point.....

Speed and 40 times are not the only reason. He's slow all around...most everything you measure.

Still you have to give the guy some credit for production. And he's got size. So he'll get snatched at least in the top 50. It's not going to surprise people for him to go in the first.

How come he's not in the top ten? Taking all that production into account.
