Saying you don't think a guy is one of the 5 best WR's in a draft class as deep at WR as this one is isn't a knock.

His upside is below some of the other guys and he's just as much maybe even more of a risk.

That's not a great equation.

I have only seen both guys in two or 3 games, but I would not take Ginn over Jarrett even though he is the faster of the two.

I look at guys like Chris Carter, Keyshawn Johnson and Art Monk who all had great careers without having great speed.

So I know it's possible.

4.62 is what Mike Irvin ran coming out of the U.

This thread is just a small sample of the idiocy of today's football fans, putting all your stock into a guys 40 time. "Man, I really really really want this guy.. oh wait, what did you say his 40 time is? SCREW HIM HE SUX1!1!!!11!!!"

4.62 is perfect for him to fall right into our laps and if Jerry doesn't take him he's an idiot. Some of you people need to actually watch the games instead of focusing on combine crap. Jarrett is an amazing player. Look at his bowl games. Look what he did against guys who were or are going to be future NFL first rounders. He is the definition of a big game player.

If all he does is become the next Keyshawn, then we're getting a steal at 22.

I would like to ban every guy who thinks speed is the be all at WR. No doubt it is important to have a guy with some outside speed at 1 of the WR spots but is it just as important to have a guy who can run great routs and go up and make the big catches which is something Jarrett has shown.

Ok you're right. But there is nothing wrong with wanting both. Fast, quicks, and great production. Like Parcells said about LBs. He wanted them big as well as fast. :)

If I'm going to draft a WR in the first then he needs both plus the scouting staff says he's the BPA at 22. I just don't see Jarrett being all that. But it's just a guessing game esp for a fan.

For every bust you can name who tore it up on Saturdays there is one or more who were good at both levels. I know he's going to face tougher competition, but are you saying he can't learn to play against that? What makes you think that?

The insanity to me is the fact that Steve Smith is being placed ahead of Jarrett in a lot of peoples mocks/rankings. Steve Smith is faster/quicker, but Jarrett outperformed him in every sense of the word at USC. At what point is on-the-field performance more important to you guys?

Sometimes that happens, though. Look at Devery Henderson and Michael Clayton at LSU. Clayton was the star producer while Henderson was just the complimentary fast guy. I bet right now most GMs would rate them about equal.

You guys know me, I'm in the speed camp. Especially this year when a rookie WR wouldn't even play much, I'd a lot rather take the physical talent who might need developing. And you can get a guy like that in the second round. But please not an average-speed, average-quick WR that we hope against odds will be the next Irvin or Rice.

(7:00 PM): More news from SoCal… Dwayne Jarrett's rather pedestrian 40 times (4.64, 4.65) at his Pro Day workout yesterday have some people putting a second-round grade on the USC wideout. Those times were much slower than the 4.4 that fellow WR Steve Smith turned in at the Combine and slower even than LB Dallas Sartz's 4.58 and DL Travis Tofi's 4.57 yesterday. Jarrett's pass-catching workout wasn't smooth, either. His cuts weren't nearly as sharp as Smith at least one scout said Jarrett looked stiff. So Jarrett's final draft grade is going to be hard to slot. His production and numbers are impressive and he certainly is a great target but those speed numbers and less-than-impressive workout after foregoing the Combine is sure to raise red flags.
