I'd love to see us get Meachem. He's a playmaker and great after the catch.

Of course, I'm a little biased being a VOLS homer.

You know, I had forgotten you're a Vols fan. That happens when someone is in exile.

;)

By any chance did you see Meacham in the WR skills challenge this week? In the one where they fire footballs at you from 4 different directions he caught every single balls and was even asking the guys running the Jugs machines to speed them up. 30 balls in 30 seconds from 4 different directions. Every catch with his hands, no bobbles.

No I missed that - hopefully NFL Network will show it again.

I was looking for footage 10 minutes ago and couldn't find it. It was beautiful. Perfect footwork turning to each machine.

I was impressed that he kept asking the handlers to fire them faster.

meacham = kelly washington

I think Washington's injury (neck I think) prevented him from being the receiver that he was w/ the Vols. If I remember correctly, it was serious enough to be career ending. I think that spooked him enough to the point that it affected his play on the field.

Meacham has much better hands.

kelly washington was supposed to be the next big thing when he was coming out of college. nobody knew he would be a flop in the nfl. and despite what ur saying, coming out of college washington was said to have really good hands. his issue was injuries.

nfl review pre-draft
ANALYSIS

Positives: Explosive breakaway threat with impressive leaping ability … Explodes coming off the line and uses his hands well to escape press coverage … Has an array of moves to elude defenders and shows proper crack-block techniques upfield … Sharp route-runner who is especially effective on underneath passes and crossing patterns … Has good field awareness and is very conscious of the sideline markers … Separates quickly from the defender in the open, showing that second gear needed to gain yardage after the catch … Natural hand extender going up for the ball and shows fluid body adjustments coming back for the off-target tosses … Very tough and physical going for the ball in a crowd … His upfield acceleration consistently allows him to break tackles … Gets in the defender's way when trying to block for the ground game.
Negatives: Concentration on the ball needs improvement, as he does not always get his head turned around properly to track the ball in flight … Hesitates at times when he can't escape the press at the line, seeming to give up when his initial move does not work … While he shows quickness in and out of his breaks, he will run sloppy routes late in the game (tends to run out of gas) … Rash of injuries (back, knee, head) are a concern.

if that doesnt sound like meacham then i dont know what will.

im not saying he'll have the same failure as washington what im saying is he's the same type of wr

i would rather have gonzalez tho. same type of wr, but i think dallas should put emphasis on the Ol in the 1st rd and maybe wr in the 2nd.

WR talent in the first round this year is deep enough where we should be able to draft one w/o trading up. Where we are picking, I'm hoping we have a shot at either Jarrett, Bowe or Meachem. I'm not crazy about Rice, but my opinion can change after the combines. The one WR that doesn't thrill me is Ginn so I'm hoping he goes high enough where we won't even be tempted to take him.

if dallas was choosing a wr in the first i would want it to be rice. this guy is just going to be special.

my reason being meacham and bowe did their damage with superior talent. while rice got his with a very bad team. that just makes his skills stand out more IMO

Meachem is as physically gifted as they get but im scared about him because this past season was the 1st year he actually lived up to the hype.

I've been watching Meachem since he was in Highschool. He was always a really good football player and a really good basketball player.

Hes got some major ups in basketball.

To me though Meachem is a unsafe pick and he just strikes me as one of those guys who will take the money and run. I hope im wrong but I dont really want to draft him. Id rather see someone else do it.

Anthony Gonzalez baby......

Cris Carter
Joey Galloway
Terry Glenn
David Boston
Santonio Holmes

I like this track record.....Boston was a very good WR till the juice took him out. Holmes had a nice rookie season.

I like what Gonzo brings to the table....Intelligence, Great hands, Speed, Durability, KR....

I really dont see him falling.

I'd rather defense 1st round anyway and now with Phillips that is almost a definite.

There are plenty of other WRs worth 2nd and 3rd round picks.

with Phillips here and all thats been invested in the defense the past 5yrs, I bet thats the reason we DONT go defense...we dont have any real holes on defense, that is unless they move Henry to FS and need a talented CB

I really think this is gonna be an offense heavy draft

No, it doesn't sound like Meacham at all. Meacham's strength is concentration on the ball and the only thing is saying about Washington's hands is that he uses them to get separation. Then it says he extends his hands ot go for the ball. That is not the same as saying someone has good hands.
