It's just honestly how I feel...many sports writers and coaches called him the most accurate passer they had ever seen. The guy was #1 overall for a reason...I just don't think that he got to showcase his full talents as a passer.
Aikman was leading a run first offense 2 decades ago with a back in Emmitt Smith who was on his way to becoming the NFL's all-time leading rusher. Troy could have put up huge numbers if the offense he played in was predicated on it. He put up over 450 yards in a game once. Few QB's during Aikman's era passed for over 4000 yards which has become common in todays game. Aikman had all the tools to be a prolific passer.
He had a strong arm and could hang in the pocket making precision throws under duress. Fans who claim QB's from decades ago couldn't play in todays game based on their career numbers or that Troy Aikman wasn't all that great because of his numbers really expose themselves as uneducated football fans who probably haven't been following the game very long.
