Eagles/Dolphins discussing #12

oh well...was fun while it lasted boys!

Now lets go get us some second rounders!
Most of the Valve in this draft is in the Second round, there are a lot of good players there, so a trade down isn't all that bad.

Exactly what did we get out of trading down last year. Can you name one player that you are cetain who will be here three years from now?

The window is here as long as Romo is playing at an elevated level.

Do you know the expiration date on that guy?

Someone in this thread spoke about trading down for depth. That is what we did last year and came away with POTENTIAL.

I'm ready for a cpuple of real studs and the later round picks can sit onn someone else's bench.

It's personal preference, really. But I have been watching this team since day one, and 15 years without an appearance in the show is enough.

No guarantees with draft picks. But this team is a lot closer than we assume and depth doesn't fill our safety needs or an impact offensive player.

But what if we found a really awesome deep snapper in the 5th round? Bet you would change your tune then.

We don't need more third/fourth tier guys. We need a guy to put us over the top. Trading down could put us in the same boat as last year--we lose all the guys we want and just keep on moving down.

If you really like a top player, go and get him.

The point is that, this year in particular, a lot of guys likely to be available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds are just as good as the guys likely to be available in the late 1st round. They're in the same tier, there just aren't enough slots for them all to be late 1st rounders.

Yea, TwoDeep, I'm glad you bring up never having an impact player or two show up....Tony Romo, Miles Austin, Felix Jones, DeMarcus Ware, Jason Witten, Michael Jenkins, Anthony Spencer, Jay Ratliff....yep, WHEN WILL THEY APPEAR?

I guess the only answer then is that Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, and Wade Phillips ARE getting into full throngs of sinility. Obviously not having learned a single iota about how things work in the NFL, much less the NFL draft. Go figure.

Oh.....and going 11-5 WAS REALLY boring last season also.:)

Then there was the fact that with a second round pick last draft, and SIX preferred players and SIX picks until yours, the reasonable expectation was that one of them would reach you. Hey, it didn't and a trade down then happened. Those are some of the fortunes of war. And there is ALWAYS an excuse that can be presented that would have changed something about a stiuation....in hind sight.

Tuna.

Don't help them.

Please..........

Remember, that Christmas Day beatdown in 2006.

Don't do it.

What a shock. Another divisional team is making moves and we aren't doing jack. :banghead:

What would you have them do? Give me the secret master plan to long term success in the NFL. Please elaborate. I'm all ears. Fire away.

Maybe we should not have cut our starting safety and left tackle before we know who we landed in the draft. The draft is a crap shoot.
