They were still paying Dak 2020?Because we were still paying Romo...
The Eagles went ahead and took all of the CAP hits late in Jalen's contract. The CAP hits are there but they just went ahead and pushed them out from the start of the contract instead of pushing the CAP hits out annually like Dallas does. It ends up[ having the same effect. Dallas could lower Dak's CAP hit if they wanted by pushing more money in the future like the Eagles have done with Hurts. Hurts isn't even under contract with the Eagles in 2029 but is counting $97.5 million against their cap that year. The Eagles have signed Jalen Hurts to a $51 million per year extension and still have the cap to surround him with AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Saquan Barkley. That may be the best offensive supporting cast in the entire NFL along with the 49ers. The Cowboys are about to resign Ezekiel Elliott.
Has Dak been to a super bowl like Hurts? Then you tell me who earned their contract and who didn'toh geez. 4 years ago we signed Dak to then a 160M contract. his first year cap hit was 17M, second year 19M, 3rd year 26M....and we had signed Tyron, Lawrence, Zeke, Martin, Steele, Diggs, etc. along the way. every team at some point has to pay the price. at some point, eagles would have to decide to extend Hurts or walk away and take massive hit. Dallas is at that point, take a massiv ehit and walk away.
so its not about the cap. its about signing the right players. our GM doesn't know the right players. cap is easily manipulated.
At least they were smart enough to dump him before they got stuck with him.LOL. And the Eagles were dealing with Wentz’s dead money.
they did when they released him. they got lucky to draft Hurts and he came at a low cost and was better than Wentz.I dont recall the Eagles suffering much after signing Wentz.
OMG, you all are so triggered. I the fact that cap is not the issue in signing players. cap gets manipulated. why don't we have a cap room this year? because we chose not to extend dak. Every team comes to that point, either extend or take the cap hit. Eagles will get there too as Hurts contract is backloaded. again, nothing to do with deserving, not deserving, etc. just that the contract isn not a handicap. wasn't.Has Dak been to a super bowl like Hurts? Then you tell me who earned their contract and who didn't
They traded him for a 1st and 3rd then proceeded to have a free agency that would blow our efforts out of the water every year since Brandon Car. Where was the suffering?they did when they released him. they got lucky to draft Hurts and he came at a low cost and was better than Wentz.
Not the point. We can spend money now and spread it out to over the future cap years.maximize profits. there is a cap floor, which each team is bound by.
they have a better GM. there is a difference between Cap strapped and having a GM that signs the right players. We traded Cooper for a 5th. a top 10 WR in the league. and then paid a 4th for SF 3rd stringer. They traded him for a 1st and 3rd then proceeded to have a free agency that would blow our efforts out of the water every year since Brandon Car. Where was the suffering?

I am sure there is profit/financial reasons behind it. with Jerry its all about the money. I mean for gawd's sake he talked about Coaches Dead money. so he had Garrett until last year of his contract as a lame duck coach. MM is getting the same treatment. Not the point. We can spend money now and spread it out to over the future cap years.
It is a choice to not spend money now.
Changing the coaches is just another marketing ploy for the fans.I am sure there is profit/financial reasons behind it. with Jerry its all about the money. I mean for gawd's sake he talked about Coaches Dead money. so he had Garrett until last year of his contract as a lame duck coach. MM is getting the same treatment.
That's my point. The cap isn't the problem, it's the clowns running the show. They use it as a convenient excuse not to spend. Jerry just got done telling us about the plague of dead money spent on coaches in the NFL, which we all know doesn't count against the cap. Good to know it's a big consideration for him though.they have a better GM. there is a difference between Cap strapped and having a GM that signs the right players. We traded Cooper for a 5th. a top 10 WR in the league. and then paid a 4th for SF 3rd stringer.
in 2022 we had about 20M on the cap. didn't sign anyone. in 2023 we had about 15M on the cap. didn't sign anyone. we sign scraps and bottom of the barrell players. make stupid trades.
oh, a 100000% agree. Jerry and Stephen are clowns. great businessmen, suck at football. That's my point. The cap isn't the problem, it's the clowns running the show. They use it as a convenient excuse not to spend. Jerry just got done telling us about the plague of dead money spent on coaches in the NFL, which we all know doesn't count against the cap. Good to know it's a big consideration for him though.
We carried over $10M from 2023 to 2024 when we had a glaring hole at LB, never mind treading a 4th for an emergency back up QB.they have a better GM. there is a difference between Cap strapped and having a GM that signs the right players. We traded Cooper for a 5th. a top 10 WR in the league. and then paid a 4th for SF 3rd stringer.

Dak was on franchise tag in 2020, so he was making top 5 money by thenThey were still paying Dak 2020?
All I'm saying is it played a factor to the team.LOL. And the Eagles were dealing with Wentz’s dead money.
I guess. It's not like the team was operating under a true QB rook salary and let it ride.It was hitting throughout Daks whole rookie deal though?
