DONTÉ STALLWORTH and Ryan Fowler both agreed to terms with NFL teams yesterday, and the Eagles seem to have snagged the one who will make the most money in 2007. That isn't Stallworth, much to the displeasure of fans who enjoyed the 26-year-old wideout's game-breaking speed in his lone season with the Birds. No, as expected, Stallworth signed with the New England Patriots, agreeing to a complex contract that multiple reports say will pay $3.6 million this year.

Linebacker Ryan Fowler will make more money next season than Dont Stallworth, and - unlike Stallworth - he's going to get it from the Eagles.
On a day when Stallworth decided to accept a contract offer from the New England Patriots, the Eagles gave Fowler a four-year offer sheet worth $10.5 million, including $4 million for the 2007 season. Stallworth, meanwhile, got a six-year deal from the Patriots.

Dont Stallworth, the Eagles' free-agent receiver, brought some baggage with him when he hit the NFL's open market Friday.

According to league sources, Stallworth is a participant in the NFL's substance-abuse program, which could subject him to a league suspension if he were to violate the terms of the program again. The circumstances and time frame that led to Stallworth's admittance to the program have not been disclosed, and the ...

Bottom line ...Stallworth was not a loss.

Why would anybody pay Ryan Fowler that kind of money?

I don't know; It seems like our drafts are getting better ( due to BP in some part, and Ireland most def) and better come to think of it, because obviously those dummy GM's see potential in the kid.

He is not worth that much though, you are absolutely right.

Anyways Fowler is in tennesee, not Philly.

Please.

Spare me your nonsense and the mindless pollution you spew forth here.

Hate to break it to ya, but your Eagles didn't get Fowler either!

If you'd bother to do any thinking or homework whatsoever, you'd be able to see that Stallworth's multi-year deal with the Patriots is actually a 1 year tryout deal. Just like LaVar Arrington's big 'multi-year' contract was another 1 year tryout deal.

But the clueless lemmings like yourselves take anything the Eagles press gives you without question. That's why you continue to fork over money that Jeff Lurie puts into his pockets rather than spending it on the team - also without question.

And you'll somehow spin it so that career 3rd stringer Kevin Curtis is the next 'Pro Bowl' discovery that the Eagles 'outsmarted' the rest of the league on. Just like Bethel Johnson was.

And when a team tries - and fails to re-sign a player and tries to replace him with a lesser player it is most certainly a loss.

Despite what a clueless homer thinks.

Wait, Stallworth wasn't a loss?

But Torrin Tucker was a "key loss" for us a year ago?

LOL, PT, sometimes you outdo yourself. And by sometimes, I mean nearly all the time.

Three things you need to watch out for when you're talking to my good buddy, PT.

When he comes pimping his eagles, if you don't agree with him he will start getting frustrated with real facts

then he will start correcting your grammar

if you start laughing at him for doing that

he will then start challenging your Military manhood.

Just an FYI...

Carry on...

Honestly, the Eagles matchup with our defense scares me. The Eagles are adept at spreading out 3-4 WR's wide in a base package and still have an athletic TE to run down the middle of the seam. That means you can't get away with a 3 man secondary with one of your safeties playing like a glorified linebacker. Roy has to cover somebody, and probably somebody a lot more athletic than him. Philly also has an absolutely mammoth OL which will give you problems if you try to overcompensate with extra DB's. Especially now that they got a power compliment to Westbrook in Hunt. Hunt is also a surprisingly good receiver out of the backfield, so you can't automatically assume that they're going to run the ball just because they have their big back in.
Same here. They had the #1 offense in the league until McNabb got hurt, and they didn't lose anything to make them any worse this year. Unfortunately, Reid may have learned a lesson to run the ball more than 30% of the time when Marty M. took over playcalling and made them a lot more balanced.

And I for one think Curtis is an upgrade over Stallworth. Stallworth had talent, but he was also a malingering malcontent who could disappear at any time. Curtis is seriously quick and will cause lots of problems for us.

They're going to be very tough to beat. I think our best chance is that we get some hits on McNabb and cause some turnovers, because they will move the ball and score on us (and everyone else).

Funny how PT doesn't want to say anything now that he realizes that Fowler plays for the TITANS, not the Egirls. I believe someone just made a complete fool of themselves.

Basic truths:

Stallworth has been an underachiever.
Curtis has been an overachiever.

Stallworth caught 2 TD passes and had a 100 yard game in the Eagles two playoff games. They wanted him back but were scared of his drug issues and asking price. They floated his rehab stuff in the media and he wasn't stupid abut who did it so was going to refuse to sign no matter what they offered.

Curtis caught 40 passes last year for 12 yards per catch and less than 500 total receiving yards. To call him the best available WR is like calling Jeff Garcia the best QB available.

The Eagles should field a quite compentant offense if they run the ball as has been suggested in this thread. Baskett, Brown and Curtis are a quite solid WR trio who all work hard and catch the ball. The fact they lack the speed/quickness of Stallworth only matters to well, everyone outside of Philly.

I had Stallworth and Curtis both on my fantasy team as depth WRs last year at times. I dropped Stallworth because he got hurt and dropped Curtis because he never had any yards or catches.

TO>Stallworth>Curtis..... not long til you are at Marky Mark again.

Philly won't lose anything with Curtis replacing Stallworth. I also believe they will change their offense and add more running plays. How our defense improves over last year will be the key.

I'm more interested in how our offense matches up with their defense.

When McNabb went down, the Eagles offense was ranked #1 in the league. Out of those games, Stallworth played in less than half of them.

Without Stallworth, McNabb broke the record (again) for passing yards in your stadium.

That was with a rookie FA, Hank Baskett, starting at WR. Now we have Curtis in addition to this Baskett guy.

If you think nothing is impressive about the Eagles offense, and aren't concerned about how your defense stacks up against it, I don't know what to tell you.

Your offense becoming #1 in the NFL after McNabb went down had to do with your O coordinator actually creating a balanced offense. It had nothing to do with if Stallworth was playing or not. Your offense becoming better had to do with Jeff Garcia playing in a system that fitted him perfectly with a solid OL, becoming more balanced and your DEFENSE stepped up. Not sure what you're talking about with McNabb breaking the record in our stadium last year? I'm pretty sure the white caucasian guy was Garcia. Your offense will be good this year if the coaching staff sticks to the 50/50 pass/run rule, as well as McNabb coming back totally healthy, which is a huge question mark. You can get all excited if you want but the reality is if you don't have a quarterback, I don't care who you have at RB, TE, OL and especially WR. BTW, McNabb doesn't get me nervous like he did earlier in his career. Your depth at QB is funny to look at.

Taking a look at the talent on the Cowboys defense and the attacking schemes Wade Phillips is implimenting, I have a better idea.

You be afraid.

You completely misread what I wrote. Our offense was #1 in the league before we lost McNabb, not after

No, the black guy was McNabb, when our offense put up 38 points on your offense and McNabb threw for 354 yards - a record against the Cowboys.
Oct 9 Rob Phillips, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb threw for 354 yards versus the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5, marking an all-time high of passing yards given up by the franchise. McNabb surpassed the previous record of 345 yards he had set in 2004.
Stallworth missing half the games is relevant because our offense was #1 despite him missing so many games. For all those saying our offense is nothing without him, it doesn't add up.

stasheroo, as usual you just want to talk trash with your hyperbole. I'm not trying to say anyone should be scared, but you can't say our offense is unimpressive when it was #3 in the league (#1 before losing McNabb). Your defense certainly has talent, and a change in scheme MIGHT do wonders. But our offense is a proven scheme, with proven results.

Um, clearly that was at Stinkin' Financial Field, not Texas Stadium. The only reason we lost that game was because of Bledsoe. If Romo is the starting QB, we win that game.

Ok lets look at the first 4 games of the regular season when McNabb was under center shall we?

Week 1: @ Houston (there's a barnburner)
Week 2: NY Giants (Great defense, and oh yeah you lost that game)
Week 3: @ SF (No comment)
Week 4: Green Bay (There's nothing more to say)

It's safe to say it was a mirage as the #1 offense in the NFL. What a joke. The only GOOD defense you played was against Jacksonville at home and you only put up 6 points. And I don't want to hear "That was the game McNabb got hurt." McNabb's injury occurred late in the 2nd half and he was stinking up the whole joint. Face it, when you let Garcia go you let your hopes in 07' go as well.

OK so we were the #1 offense by accident. Hell of a spin there senator.

You were the #1 offense by playing below-average defenses.

Where did McFatty and the "#1 offense" get you?

To a 5-5 record?

With losses to sorry teams like Tampa and Tennessee!

Only after McNabb was hurt did the team figure out that they had a solid running game to rely on. That's when they became a complete offense capable of finishing games.

And for the record, McNabb passed for that yardage in Philadelphia, NOT in 'our stadium'.

What does that make the Cowboys defense then? Which opponents did we score the most points against? The Cowboys and 49ers. 38 points, 383 net yards. I'll take it

Just don't count on 3 bombs against a rookie FS this year.
